Pestilence?...
Are they any good?.. I hear they fuse jazz and death metal, is this true?... That's sort of something I have been wanting to hear a band do, so if you know of any other bands to check out that have that sound that would be very appreciated...

pestilence were essentially four differnet pands on each of their albums. yes, they did do metal/jazz but not untill late in their career
malleus maleifcarum - pure thrash, with thrash vocals and riffs but technical solos
consuming impulse - one of the first and criminally underrated PURE DEATH METAL albums. 1987! brutal dutch dm with a classic production
testimony of the ancients - becoming sort of technical with very melodic solos and odd interludes between songs.
sphers-crazy hideous jazzy death metal, very out of this world sounding.
some cool pesti trivia...the cover of testimony was the original cover of sepultras arise but they never used it

yeah its got an awesome atmosphere,although the vocals suck and the guitar tone is funky. its ALL mids and reverb...but its a good listen for sure. lots of guitar effects that make it sound like a keyboard

So I checked the CD out (thanks to metalthrashingmad) and I think it's pretty good, I like the song Mind Reflections a lot.. But I want to know what they were on when they were dialing in guitar tone and said "yeah, that isn't terrible"...  I gotta adjust the treble and bass knobs on my damn stereo when I listen to it!! Anyway I like how the drums lock in with the guitar, and I also noticed the vocals remind me of Obituary (wich of course is good)... I think this album will grow on me...
