I have a few questions about Satch, cuz I've been diggin some of his stuff as of late and am trying to write some of that kinda blues/fusion type of stuff, as I don't have a metal band anymore I might as well do something solo for awhile til the band situation settles out. Well, anyways, my question is, waht types of scales/modes would satch be using? Sounds a bit like some lydian/mixolydian in some of his works. And also, how much of his stuff is impro'ved? Because it really flows beautifully, and its hard to tell if he's composing it or improvising it and then writing it down. Cheers

I'm sure he does both. Improv untill it clicks. I would imagine satch uses a taste of all the scales and modes. Just watch the chords. I love that "midnight" piece.

lots of lydian and mixolydian, time machine, blue dream then rasberry delta are some cool ones. I read in a magazine that he improvizes everything, damnit hes good
