Dillinger Escape Plan - Instant Headache
I know a good deal of you seem to like them, but for me most of their songs are an instant headache for me. Does anybody else share this feeling?

I used to hate them with a passion. You just have to give them repeated listens so their immense patterns and rythm set in.I've two albums(Miss Machine and Calculating Infinity) that I've had for about a year and a half, and I swear,I here something new everytime I listen to them.

i think that all the "let's just glue random shit and call it music" genre pretty much sucks.
sure, you can play the craziest riffs and be uber technical but what's the point if it's just wanking without structure, meaning and continuity?
those kids could (and should) learn with Atheist.

Well, I think they do have a structure...
But try some "Ion Dissonance"...thats more extreme than DEP and they are really good musicians. And ofc they have structures...its called "math-core", you know?

I don't like the new one at all, but the Irony Is A Dead Scene EP with Mike Patton is simply fantastic.

They are the only "hardcore/math-core" band that I can stand. I hated Miss Machine. I'm gonna go see 'em at The Annex for free on the first though, I've only seen them with the old singer, I'm interested to see how the new guy does.

I like them, but I like the Ion Dissonance better.

I saw them on Halloween last year, It was cool at first because the singer came out in overalls with a bunny mask on singing all that shit & show being stopped because a girl got punched in the face while standing next to the pit & went onto convulstions, other than that it sucked because you really couldnt understand a fuckin thing coming out of the PA. On their studio albums you can understand their music but live it sounds like mush with some dude screaming his head off.

I really like DEP and have all their releases (except the splits). I started listening to them when Calculating Infinity came out and at first it all seemed like noise. Soon I began to appreciate them and now I reckon they're great.
They're definately not for everyone but I don't fucking care if you don't like them. Just shut up and don't listen to them if they give you a headache, fucktards.
The self titled EP was pretty much straight hardcore without the "mathcore" element but it's still pretty descent.
Under The Running Board and Calculating Infinity were the best IMO. Irony Is A Dead Scene was pretty good but quite different to previous stuff esp. with Mike Patton's cartoonish vocals.
Miss Machine is ok but they've just become boring and really accessable with that release.

Instant Headache? Fuck, I thought that was gonna be the title of a new release....damn, dissappointed now.
DEP rule, probably one of the better bands I've seen at an open air festival too.

That's great. When I saw them the stage left guitarist smashed his guitar and threw it out into the crowed, son girl got hit in the face and they had to call the paramedics.

Its their vocalist that drives me nuts, I actually like the guitarwork. Some of their guitar lines sound very jazz oriented to my ear. If they just played without a vocalist, I might actually like them.

I like them, even the new stuff is pretty appealing to me, it's just what turns your clock.
seen em live four times now and must say they usually put on a very good show. one out of four was crap, the vocalist was constantly puking on stage. haha, first time in Holland I guess
I like their freaky time patterns and dissonant chords and shit, every now and then I come up with random sick shit in the rehearsal room and we just jam to it, till our bass player stops and shouts 'fuck this, sounds like dillinger escape plan' while we where actually just fucking around with random shit.
