Choice of AMP
What would be the recommended amp for playing in flames to slipknot to killswitch kinda stuff, basically the best all round metal amp without spending ''millions'' on equipment to make a shyte amp sound good

I think that what you're probably after is a Line 6 Spider II boosted with a Digitech Metal Master.

Probably for those types of tones, a 5150 will do.

spider II has enough of everything, except mids.
It's a decent amp if you dont mind spending a crapload of time tweaking and also buying the FBV Shortboard, which i think is a necessity on all Line 6 stuff.
but yeah, 5150 would get you what you want.

Honestly, you just named 3 quite dissimilar tones. A 5150 could nail you the In Flames and put you in the ballpark of the other 2, but they wouldnt be exact. Why not just find an amp you like and get your own sound? Oh yea, noone does that these days. Silly me.

Even if it is a toneful little amp its probably not what he's looking for.
Whats your budget like for this amp?

The Spider II is a great hot rod amp. If someone told me it was a Mesa, I'd believe them, it gets such a great sound! And it won't break your bank.

A Mesa! I know I heard, and when I played on it I felt, the difference. It's no where near close to a Mesa, and I really don't like Mesa that much, but this amp was not it. This one ski band I jam with sometimes, a few weeks ago, got a spider II and it.. it.. it just, ..couldn't get metal if you needed it too. No way! I was just trying it out and I really hated it. I played with it for an hour and I couldn't get much out of it.
Damn Line6. Damn them to hell.
As for a good metal amp? Go with Crate, for great cleans, or Randall for some good distortions, imo.
I'm done.

Actually, it almost seemed like a cliche' sdislexicx comment......and it wouldn't sound good (unless you were a beginner)
so.....use your own judgement.

Dude, fuck the crate, unless you're going for the BV's. And Line 6 aren't that bad if you're going from the Flextone series and up.

He was quoting that angry little hobbit that tends to come around these parts. In another amp recommendation thread he was telling us all how great the spider II sounded...even compared it to a mesa. And then proceeded to get flamed.
