Achieving that Death Metal/Grindcore Bass Sound?
On some bands like Engorged, or Circle of Dead Children they have realy... fuzzy sounding basses, that make a lot of the effect. How do you get ur bass to sound like that?

Maybe run your bass through a Overdrive/fuzz/distortion pedal like a 'Boss ODB-3'

Turn your lows to zero and your mids/highs to 10!

you dont have to sound fuzzy just to play death metal. Plenty of dudes play with really fat bassy sounding effects or none at all (sean/ cynic, roger patterson/atheist, lars/spiral architect, satyricon)

True, it's all about the treb bass in Death Metal.

Not very grindy, but I get a quite warm distorted sound on bass by running through a Boss guitar overdrive at low drive.
For grind, some bassists I know use guitar multi-fx pedals and adjust the settings accordingly, to keep it kinda thick yet have the overarching annoying fuzz.

Good luck with the tone settings.
Right now I have my low on 4, mid on 3 and high on 6/7..sounds good, well in headphones at least.(And a slight treble adjustment on my bass knobs)

Yeah I love Alex Webster's tone, especially on songs like "Crusing the Despised" "Fucked with a Knife" "Stripped Raped & Strangled" "Coffinfeeder" and alot more I can't think of right now, and his tone on the Live Cannibalism DVD fucking KICKS ASS...really punchy and fuzzy, lots of midrange that cuts through yet he still keeps the bottom end, difficult to get that kinda tone, even with an SVT
And of course I love cliff Burton's tone on the 2 best metallica albums that exist.....Ride the lightning and Master of Puppets he had a lovely growly sound.
Cheers

A good fuzz pedal or effect will get you towards that Napalm Death or Repulsion bass sound.. is that the kinda fuzziness we are talking about?
