Help with effects loop
My amp doesn't seem to work with my pedal: when I run it through the effects loop, the volume is minimal and the effects don't seem to be happening. When I run it direct, the gain on my amp just seems to die off and go really weak. My amp is a valve one, a peavey 5150 mark 2. I've had this problem before when I had an old zoom8080, though that eventually broke so I forgot about it.
Anyway, I've had my new KORG pedal around a month now, and the amp has juststarted playing up again. There is the possibilty it's my bastard guitar wiring fucking around again, but it seems inconsistent withthe problems I'm having.
NOTE: I'm using new, working cables. I've fiddled around lots to ensure the cables are going into the right sockets etc
Cheers for any help or suggestions.

what kinda korg pedal is that? one of the ax-series? A friend of mine has one and it doesn't seem to work through the fx loop either, not on his amp and not on mine whilst other pedals work fine through my fx loop.
does your fx loop have a volume setting? (wet/dry?)

That, to my experience, happens with every pedal going on battery. You get the note and effect for two seconds and then the whole sound dies of in a meak crackling. Buy a power cable, in the long run it's way much cheaper than buying batteries once a week.

Sorry I should have stated more details. NO it doesn't have any buttons or 'options', just three plug holes, one for pre-amp input, then one for foreffectloop send, one for effect loop return. The pedla is KORG toneworks AX15000g (a multi effects unit) and it runs off a power cable. It hasn't been a diminishing problem, just happened one day. To be honest I have a horrible and frustrating feeling it's this fucking guitar's innards that have buggered up again, but this problem isn't consistent with the failing properties of my pedal...
Maybe this series doesn't work with effect loops then? But I don't understand why it's ceasing to work through a 'direct connection' to the amp (guitar>>pedal>>head)
I don't know much in regards to the technical sides of amps etc, but could the fact that I've had the amp for 3 years or so and never had to change thevalves be part of the problem? Something else that makes me think this is that sometimes, when the presence is high, the amp sounds extremely dry, sharp and 'glassy'; basically a horrible shitty harsh noise and tone.
Thanks once again

Did you try only using your amp without the pedal?
Can you try the pedal on a friends amp?
The sooner you eliminate wich part of your gear is faulty, the sooner you can solve the problem.

I can't confirm that but I can confirm that a friend of mine had an korg AX too (I think it was the 1500, silver one with solid housing?)
It didn't work like it should through his or mine fx loop even though it worked fine if you plugged it in the regular input.
Other pedals worked fine through my fx loop so that's the weird part. maybe those AX's are just cursed? they're digital fx units with a lot of bullshit fx to play around with.
