Jumbo frets...
Okay, so I'm saving up some cash to get me a new axe. I've had mine (Hamer Slammer, crappy Strat wannabe) for 5 years now, and it had at least a year of use before then. So I've been thinking about what exactly I'm looking for...locking tremolo, active pickups, that kinda shit. I noticed that on mine the notes seem to die quickly, especially higher up the neck. I'm not sure what size my frets are, and I can definitely tell they're worn, but they are damn small. I was checking out Ran and there's this "extra jumbo" fret option. I was wondering how big those things actually are... It seems like the sound would be clearer, more full, but does it get to the point of being too big? Like would it make it exceptionally difficult to fret notes around the 20th fret? I figure a lot of you have them and could help me out. I have stubby-ass fingers by the way, I'm sure that makes a difference.
Edit: also, a side note, what's so special about a schaller floyd compared to a regular one?

It's not just Ran, but jumbo frets in general. Unless the Schaller is Ran-specific?

You can sometimes see worn areas, or indentations, plus you'll start to notice fret rattle where there wasn't fret rattle before or dead areas, perhaps when you do bends.

yeah when i bend the high e on the 15th fret it automatically dampens the string does that mean its worn?

I can tell by looking at them. They aren't smooth...like there are little divots on them right under the strings. I think the way the notes die on the higher frets is associated with wearing too.
