I've been playing guitar for over a year now, and I haven't learned a single metal song. The songs I want to play are either to hard or in some damned dropped tuning. The only suggestions I get from people are slayer which I don't care for, andfar worse things. Just looking for suggestions easy reccomendations. I'm starting to figure out sweeping so things like that would be appreciated.

Or learn some of Iced Earth's simpler stuff. Burning Times is uber-easy, and most of the Dark Saga album isn't too hard.

Early Metallica isn't tough, particularly their more mispaced songs..Seek And Destroy comes to mind.

Exodus's Bonded By Blood album has lots of easy songs, too.

Alternatively, just pick a slightly tougher song and keep plugging at it. I decided to learn Iced Earth - Burnt Offerings when I was just starting, and my wrist couldn't get anywhere near the speed they played at, but I started slow and worked up.. and once I got it up there lots of fast songs I couldn't touch before became pretty simple.
