Regarding Soundcards
I'm on the look out for a high quality sound card. So far it's a choice between the plethora of options on this site: http://www.dv247.com/icat/pcisoundcards
and the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro: http://www.soundblaster.com/product...uct=14064&nav=0
Hmm, well the Creative card just seems to have a bunch of functions I won't even use - perhaps it's geared more towards home entertainment than recording music? I just need something cheap, simple, and of high quality.

I'd go for the creative soundcard. Check compatability for that card with your computer before you buy, when I bought my first "high quality" soundcard, I had to take it back and get the one compatable with my PC. But overall, the quality from higher-end creative cards are normally very clear, they don't do anything to your sound so what you hear as you monitor it is normally exactly what the recording will sound like. If you have budget restrictions, the Audigy 2 has worked perfectly for me so far.
Hope I Helped

I could sit inside your computer, listen to what you just played and then hum it back to you.
