Hughes and Kettner triamp tube help?

I just recently bought a used Triamp MKII and the guy sent me a fresh set of Ruby EL34BSTR's with it. Those are the same that come stock with the amp. I just would like to know if I could just swap the old with the new or does it need to be biased.

Damn,

Isn't that like a $3000 head? Sorry, I don't know about tube amps and whatnot.

are those the power tubes or the preamp tubes? im not 100% sure but i think powertubes can just be switched out but preamp tubes have to be biased

you have it backwards. powertubes need to be biased, the preamp tubes are plug in and play.

everytime you change poweramp tubes they have to be re-biased, poweramp tubes should always be changed all at once.
It doesn't matter if they're matched or not (but they definetly should be!), matched tubes have to be biased, too.
some people even recommend to re-bias your tubes one or two times a year..

if it's a fixed bias amp(most heads are these days) you should be fine with a matched quad.

it's always the better idea to rebias of course, even with a fixed bias amp.

get a trim pot installed.

mesa amps for example. all there amps are bias'd in a certain range these days, and all mesa tubes are tested and matched in that range. so for the most part it's cool.

but of course not everyone wants mesa tubes. it's a cheap mod to have a trim pot installed and get it rebiasd.
