Erik Rutan's "Alas"
This is a very little known project by the man himself. Their album can be found and purchased on Amazon for like $4 if I remember correctly...and yes, it is a full length. The band has been inactive since the release of this album in 2001, but the music is very much worth the small price. Ahh, the music. The vocals are sometimes operatic, but mostly just beautiful normal singing, as they are done by one of Therion's old singers. The playing style is very much signature Rutan too...it is weird, I admit, to hear the style in a more power metallish environment; however, this detract's nothing from the music. Just buy it. If you don't like it, not much money will have been lost.
