Either you're dangling a fishing line or someone is taking you for a ride.
I've not heard any of his stuff from the last decade or two. May I recommend 'Incantations'.

Hahahahahahahaha you got serrrrrved. Tubular Bells is a weird prog album from the 70's. It's kind of hippy and strange and not a bit growled.

the most recognisable piece he done was the music in 'The Exorcist'
you know what one i mean
my missus has Tubular Bells II and it's just random, quite cool and full of innovation. There's load of instruments in fact one of the songs is him listing what instruments he plays, just has the little rhythm going and him listing the instrument then pulling a little lick and going on to the next one!
Interesting if nothing else!

According to amazon, it came out in 1992.

Yeah, the original came out in 1972 or 3? It was the first release on Richard Bransons new record label 'Virgin', pop trivia kids!
It's prog with a little guitar on it and some really embryonic synths
The opening sequence is used as the music for the Exorcist films.
He's done other stuff with vocalists, 'Moonlight Shadow' springs to mind.

Some of Oldfieds songs are very amazing, they're quite hypnotic to me. Though it's not what you've been told, I still recommend it.

Must be a remastering. It's the album that made Virgin music famours in the 70's.
It sold a fucking arseload of records for one reason - it's good. If you like that kind of thing. Well worth getting.

That's a nice, trippy song. Probably one of the more popular ones.
There's an official site, by the way;

hey ive got the tubular bells dvd. noway near prog metal with growls. more like interesting instrumental background music for when your guests don't appreciate lyrics like "satan sold my soul today" or "open up your cunt and let me take a shit". the man sure can kick the shit out of a bell though.

There not like metal growls. I've listened to the original tubular bells about 4 four times properly through the whole thing and there is a section or two 18 minutes or so in where he does this weird ass growl voice. It tripped me out when I first heard it, there is some great little sections in the song, some not so interesting. Apparently the one and only time he played it live he said he felt like he had been raped by the music and was quite upset about what he had done. He's meant to be quite a character and apparently almost went insane during the making of this record.

Someone had you going. Tubualr Bells is a weird prog album with fine instrumentation from the 70's. You still might want to check it out anyways. It's very good. You might recognize the music from it too on this album because part of it is from a horror movie, I think The Excorcist or however you spell it.

Yeah, he's a twisted man. Read Richard Branson's autobiography?

Nah I haven't read it yet, the person who showed me tubular bells did though. He was telling me me some of the stories from it. I remeber something about oldfield pulling out of that gig at the last minute and the only way branson could get him to do it was by giving him this special beetle or some sort of car, I can't remeber exactly what type it was. Heh, sounded pretty funny eh.
