Whammy Flutter
Ive noticed Necrophagist uses them often, but how do i do it? do i slap the bar to where the strings tighten or slack? And when i do a whammy flutter, the other strings also sound. Any tips?
Thanks, Drake
Example: Necrophagist- Diminished to B at 2:38

There are two good ways to do this. Hit the note, and with your bar in a position pointing towards your headstock move your hand quickly from the bridge toward the headstock almost like a karate chop (using the knife edge of my hand) brushing the tip of the bar. You want to make light contact just a little bit before the end of the bar, and rub towards the end (pointing toward your headstock).
Note: This technique does NOT work with shitty trems like anything that comes on a low-end guitar. I only notice it working on something like an OFR or Ibanez Edge, etc. But it won't work on your piece of shit korean made Jackson.
Another technique that actually make the flutter last a little longer is to move the bar facing the butt end of your guitar (near where you hook the strap) and pretty much do the same thing. I turn the bar down toward that end and use my fingers to push the bar, starting from almost the end of the bar, and rubbing lightly but fast toward the end of the bar.
A little bit of timing, and soon you'll be fluttering away.

easy, pull up the bar and let it bounche, imagine ur shooting an arrow.
so basicaly, u pull up the bar a little bit, and let it go, so it slips out of ur hand, and the springs pull it back inits original position, this wil make the bridge bounce, just try that, its the easiest thing in the world.
edges pro's do that trick VERRY GOOD

I heard Josh Christian doin this on World Circus, it's pretty fun to do.
I do the same as k13m described, only the other way. Just push it down a little with one finger, and let it bounce up.

for a flutter... i just hold the bar loosely with my middle ring and pinky fingers, and just kinda hit it with my fingers and palm back and forth really fast. think of like... jacking it off... but instead, do it perpendicular to the bar.

Wasn't there a Steve Vai video where he claimed this technique under somethign like 'tiger claw'? BUtyeah, a decent trem is required. Mine won't hack it - too much excessive trem noise and it doesn't resonate enough/sustain the note. The newer models of my guitar have an updated trem that works wonders though, for a start it fits with a plug rather than the really shitty fart-pie of a screw in arm on mine that slowly unwinds itself everytime it's used.
