how do i get the lead guitar to cut through better?

Heres an example of a recording ive done, i created two rthym tracks and panned one 75L and one 75R with a single lead track Center.

What do i need to do to get the lead to cut through better?

Thanks!

Maybe add a little reverb and amplify it a bit more.

Wha? Keep plenty of mids in there at all times, scooping sucks for lead and rythm. You might also want to look into some higher gain pickups if you feel they're not powerful enough. EMG-81 or Dimarzio X2N cut like chainsaws.

In Jazz band we have that problem a lot since I tend to play on the lower registers. . . I go up but I like running back through the low notes again. Every time that shit happens I have to adjust my Mids and Treble and of course don't forget about your guitars volume/tone knobs and pick-up selector.

for lead: More volume, highs, and mids, but less distortion so that it doesnt blend in with the rhythm, and so you can hear the notes.

rhythm: make it bassier than the lead, and a fuckload distortion... id say dime lows and highs and keep mids at 9 oclock... but thats just with my amp.

play with it.

As long as it sounds clear after the mix you can EQ however you want... If your major concern is getting a more cutting lead... consider changing your guitar pickups, getting some new brighter strings, and maybe even getting a new amp if you just don't think the voicing of it is what you want.

I can't do this... my amp has only 1 channel and there´s no footswitch jack so I can't have different EQ's saved... I basically pick an EQ setting and just do whatever.Btw, if I were to buy an EQ pedal(reccomend one if possible), what settings should the amp have? Should I let it all up to the EQ pedal and turn all the settings on the amp midway?

Oh yeah are there any good noisegate/EQ "2 in 1" pedals out there that are relatively inexpensive?

a boss GE-7 (or something simmilar) would be enough, tough you might even be intrested in 15 band equalizers and the sort.

Some people like to put their amps eq to neutral when they use an eq pedal, thats either all settings to 12o'clock, or mids to 3o'clock and bass and trebble to 9o'clock. Just try to find something so that you dont have to adjust two different eq's at the same time.
