Just goto www.looknohands.com Click on the advanced room. It has every scale and chord in any key printed out in a fretboard diagram.

Or you can look at it like a diminished arpeggio. . .that was Kirk Hammett's big thing in guitar world on his "Betcha Can't Play This."

It is correct Angry Hobbit, just stacked minor 3rds or as one guy said whole half whole half, or half whole half whole, up to the octave. There are really only three diminished scales because it is a symmetrical scale and functions in two different positions, sorry. You have it right I am sure.

Oh, sorry, I guess because Arpeggio doesn't have an abbreviation I didn't know what you were talking about. . . :P. but other than that oh well. I apologize.

Yeah i know. But you can get a nice three string sweep from that scales though:
E---------5-8----
B-------7----7---
G---5-8-------8-5

Only the 5-6-#7-8 degrees of the scale make up part of the diminshed scale. There are, however, diminished triads at 2nd, 4th, and 7th degrees of the scale.

i have a very limited knowledge of guitar but i like this scale, what i like about it is you can do this chord, like a power chord but your ring finger is on the third string down instead of the second. if that makes sense. that chord goes thru out the scale and makes kinda like a middle eastern type sound

If I'm reading this right. Would be like...
D---9
A----
E---7
which would be a octave. Hey, what is this actually called? Octave power chord?

Davie,
Wouldn't you have to mute the "A" for it to be a power chord?

the pattern for diminished is easy, its whole step, then half step then it repeats that pattern for a while

yea, the A would be muted for that octave type chord. tech seems to describe this octave type chord, so that's what I was trying to explain.
