nuts...
im thinking of getting an ibanez rg soon, but i want to change the tremolo to a kahler ( Image)
i have chosen the ibanez rg321 ( Image) as it has a dual humbucker config and because it hasnt already got floyd tremolo routing on it which should make the kahler installation much easier.
anyways, the thing about the rg321 is that it hasnt got a locking nut on the neck. i want to have a floyd style locking nut on my guitar for extra stability and because it looks cool . what i wanna know is, will it be possible to put a floyd locking nut on an ibanez rg321 neck? it doesnt look like theres enough space, but im not sure, someone may have done it already.
if it is not possible to put a locking nut on a rg321 neck, what are the alternatives i can use to increase the tuning stability of my guitar with a kahler? i dont wanna get the kahler locking nut ( Image) theyre fugly...

Hmm. I think you'll still need to block the bridge cavity. But it wont be nearly as big as a floyds (but if you get one with a floyd, you can just use the plate thing). Putting a locking nut on that, i dont think is possible the normal way. I think you will have to put the lockers behind the nut.

Or else, if you don't really mind about having a tremolo, you can get the non-trem Kahler.

thanks for the suggestion dude but i want a trem kahler, i dont know much about them so im just chosing the one kerry king uses
neways, would locking tuners do the same job as a locking nut?
btw, i think if i cant find a suitable solution i might just get a new aanj wizard neck with a locking nut on it, but thats my final solution because it will probably cost alot.
so yea, does anyone know anything about locking tuners?

is there a cavity? i thought you had to feed the strings in throught the back of the guitar, so wont there just be 6 holes?

oh i thought this ibanez had a bridge like one on a strat. which would have a hole through the guitar you'd need to block. nevermind.

Years ago I had an old Yamaha RGX, I changed the trem and put a locking nut behind the original nut. Looking at the Ibanez image it looks like there might be enough room.
Either that or you remove the original nut and put the locking nut in it's place.

I don't think locking tuners were exactly meant to function like a locking nut. It's really just to lock the strings in when you change the strings. I'll know more about these Kahlers, cuz my new guitar's gonna come w/ a 2300 one.
