What Modifications...

what modifications have you made to your guitar/guitars?
doesnt matter if its major or minor, name them or take photos, or both :P

i've replaced my pickups : from shitty generic blade pickups to emgs (81/89)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...01/DSC01820.jpg

put a battery box in my guitar, (had to drill a big ass hole in my guitar)

thats about it so far, i plan to put some decals on and change my guitar knobs to something a bit better.

what about y'all

I have this ltd explorer. It had a fixed bridge replaced it with a kahler. Switched the pickups out for a emg 81 -89 combo. added a emg booster. replaced the neck with a neck with reversed head. put it iron crosses inlay. painted it entirely satin black. too bad I don't have any pictures of it...

Mexician Strat: I replaced a pup in the bridge with a hot rail, put a new pickguard on.

Ibanez RG570: Completely stripped down all the hardware, stripped all the paint off it, sanded it, filled all the imperfections, and am now at the priming stage.

My Epiphone Les Paul has had the bridge pickup replaced, electronics replaced, bridge replaced, nut replaced, knobs replaced and straplocks fitted.
Its now being sold so, if anyones interested for more information contact me.

My Epiphone Dot has had its knobs replaced and a new pickguard fitted. Minor modifications I know.

And my CSL Les Paul copy has been refinished and is awaiting new hardware, electrics and tuners.
The pickups in it are custom built by the same guy that wound Tony Iommi's original custom pickups. They sounds fucking amazing to say the least, the neck tone is great.

My Yamaha acoustic has had the bridge replaced.

Switched the pickups to 81/81, but now I'm feeling i shouldve tried DiMarzio, althought the guitar sounds awesome.

im thinking about striping down the finish on my guitar and repainting it, but i feel that the set neck is gonna make that task a bitch.

will sanding down and refinishing a set neck guitar hard?

Depends on whether you have the tools and experience or not.

I know I personally wouldn't have the confidence to do that.

I'd perhaps contact a local luthier or tech, see if he (or she) could maybe show you how to do it, a sort of hands on tutorial.

And if that fails, read alot of books on the subject and maybe test out the operation on some junk wood or a cheap old neck on ebay.

On my Washburn I put an EMG-81 in the bridge...I sort of regret it though, I should've gone passive. But oh well. I'm also considering putting a floyd rose on there but I'm gonna get a new amp first.

Put a Seymour Duncan Custom in the bridge position and a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the neck position. They rule.

Ibanez 7-string RG replaced stock bridge pickup with EMG 707. It needed routed to fit the pickup but a local guitar tech did it for $20 (cant beat that). Im gonna replace the neck pickup with a EMG 81-7, & i might switch them around from time to time.

is it tidy?

The overall routing to fit the pickup came out real good, it looks factory, but he scraped the body a little bit when the router slipped. You can barely tell its there, if you looked closely at it you can see it, but unless your face is a inch away from it you cant tell, thank goodness the color is black or i would have been pissed. But for $20 to route, install, adjust intonation, adjust the neck & new strings i cant bitch, anybody else would have charged at least $100 to do it. He was being cool about it apologizing & shit. Hes by far the best guitar tech in my area, other than the little scrap everything he did was awesome, i got it back it felt like a totally different guitar & played like a dream & im gonna take it to the same dude to fit the EMG 81-7. Ill take some pics when i get the 81-7 installed.

my washburn: new pickups, new bridge, strap locks, new nut, new knobs, and extensive care for it. a bitchen set up.

my cheap strat peavey EVH guitar: took half of the face plat of. switched the bridge single coil for a humbucker. switched standard fender type tremelo for a licensed floyd. did a cool tape job. shimmed the neck.

and built a guitar. but thats not a modification.

Put EMG's in a Schecter C-1 Classic. And installed a graphite-sort of nut for baritone tuning.
