I think Lamb of Gods guitarists are excellent songwriters. With the contridiction to what I posted in the other thread, I think alexi laiho is a strong songwriter, even though alot of his stuff sounds the same, it doesn't mean it's not good at it. Oh Oh!! The late great Randy Rhoads and Dimebag Darrell were excellent guitar songwriters.

Danny Elfman(sp). Yeah I know he's not a metal songwriter but that guy does more stuff that I ever imagined. Pretty much every movie I see he does the soundtrack for.

Hmm, in my opinion, Mongrain is an awesome songwriter, but on an ever-so-slightly lower tier than the ones I mentioned. I'd also rate Diego Sanchez and Levasseur/Langlois on about the same level as Mongrain.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of Toni Iomi, I don't really know why, his guitar playing wasn't all that good but his songs were really cool. I definetly like maiden as far as songwriting goes. I like priest to but their songwriting isn't all that great.
