Did not found anything! about tremolo
I search the whole forum, from page 59 to this. First i did a quick search of course.
So do not close down my new thread!
Just becasue you "powersofterror" apperantly the admin of this forum not bother about a tremolo picking doesn`t not mean you have to close my thread down!
So i am asking again, more clearly, for some advice, and differnet styles.
How to hold the pick. If it is mostly a personal thing?
I have just seen one play with the whole hand in the air, while mostly others
play with putting the fingers below the strings as usuall to keep it steddy, right? I guess it is standard.
And if it should be hold diagonal in any way?
BUT, i know this is not "rule", but i would like to hear some advices from others, and how THEY play tremolo, really fast.

I'm pretty sure that this has already been done before but the biggest peice of advice I can give you is take it slow. Theres no real special technique just practice and don't rush yourself. Also use your wrist not your elbow. What tuning and string guage are you using if you don't mind my asking?

Yes that was good, i missed that one. BUT BUT BUT, it was not enough, i asked more! And it was only one thread so what?? I found alot alike threads in this forum, and my thread does not even have the same fucking question, so what the hell is the matter with you.
I just asked for some advices, that has not even been written the same way before here. But foremost i asked about YOUR ways of picking. Like when you tremolo picking, do you always put the rest of your fingers below the strings, or just in the air?
This is not totally unfammiliar to me, i know how i can do it my way, and just practise. And i sure know to use my wriste and not my elbow! That was the first thing i learned when started to play. Even if it doesn not matter how you pick, you should always use your wriste for faster playing. But there are exeptions of course.
HelpMeHelpYou, what is string guage??
And i have standard tuning.

uhhhmm. Nothing is wrong with me thank you for asking.. One of your questions was how to hold the pick etc. and that thread answers that question. maybe not all of your qusetions. But hey, i'm not perfect. so shut up.
Anywho, string gauge is how thick your strings are. .010 or .09 strings for example. you can check your gauge by looking on the pack of strings you bought.
and how you hold the pick is a personal thing. some people put their fingers under the strings some people don't. it's how it works best for you. I personally hold the pick by laying it on the side of my index finger and lock it with my thumb. with the point of the pick barely showing. than put the pick in a slight angle by pushing with your thumb ( if you know what i mean ) and voila. my other fingers are just stretched and don't touch a thing

Well since i am an amateur my first string change was done by someone else.
Isn`t there any other way, to see the guage? and btw how many different sizes are there anyway??? I have a pretty bad guitar, but i guess it is standard strings maybe?? which is standard strings?
And how long did it take for you to play tremolo without touching the guitar with the other fingers?? I can`t play for 3 seconds a tremolo, without touching the under the strings. But my tremolo picking is rather good, but i should have started with chords, scales and other theory at first.

Standard strings are 10's (high e being .10)
Tremelo picking, along with a lot of other techniques, do have a lot to do with what suits you.
If you watch the pro's, they all pick differently. Jason becker does this weird thing with his index and middle fingers, he kinda moves them to trem pick. Vai seems to only move his fingertips, maybe doing small circles.
Whether you rest your fingers on the body under the strings is up to you, i know a lot of teachers teach to do it.
Just try out a bunch of ways and see what you like and which is easiest.
Try to only move from your wrist down, so moving your thumb and wrist should be enough. Moving the elbow too much can damage it.
I like to watch videos of guitarists playing and trying out their style to see how it feels.
And how to play tremelo really fast? Practise over and over and over the most fluent picking motion you find.
And then practise it more, and some more. If it doesnt hurt and is easy to sustain, well its right for you

euhm lemme add sumtin, to help u out, im not here to bitch on peeps
try different ways of picking, theres isnt a secret formula wich makes u trempick fast.
so try out different angles, try out picking closer to the neck or closer to the bridge, try out different strings.
ive always find it easier to trempick verry fast with tight strings, but maybe ull prefer loose strings, thats y U gotta find out.
how long have u been playing for if i may ask???
anyway, experiment, a lot, and ull find a way that works best for u good luck
EDIT: to add a thing on what i do, i hold my pick with my thumb and index finger, and i always (well almost always) stretch out my pinky while picking, and i kinda let it rest on the high E string (also to mute it while playing).
but ive seen vids of peeps trempicking, holding their pick with three fingers, or making a fist while picking.

my take on banana thumb was i thought they kind of tightened their thumb so it wasnt loose and slightly bent. like if you stretch out your thumb or tense it, its like a banana
i didnt think placing the rest of your fingers under the strings was common. all my friends dont seem to. i personally just kind of stretch them out or leave them loose (of course not so theyre hitting the strings haha)
i hold my pick between the thumb (just past the knuckle towards the end of the thumb) and index finger, and i guess thats how all my guitarist friends do too. you just kinda get used to your own way of picking over time, and if you have friends who also play, youve all got a similar style.
like i noticed marty friedman and jason becker both have the same grip and bend their thumb the same way.
so yeah...personal thing

Powers' was born with a mutation (a modding experiment gone bad), some call it a gift. He has two extra fingers, deemed as the dreaded "Closing Fingers".
Now it seems the Closing Fingers of PoT have a rash, N00b Rash (Newbulus Rashliness).
Will PoT's side kick Colomine Lotion Man come through and help our favourite Mod out!?
Sorry, this thread suxors anyway.
EDIT: Added more to the story.

I wasn't attacking you sorry if it came off that way you weren't a cunt about it like other 'n00bs' around here. My string guage is .10. I play in standard tuning. And by below the strings or in the air do you mean on my picking hand if so I have them in the air I guess. I have never really thought about it untill now it was just whatever felt natural. Oh yea and most guitars come with .09's on them when you first purchase them. Whether they would change them to .10s when you got the strings changed or not I do not know.

Well from most videos and other shit i watched, live and so, most guitar players of course lay the other fingers below, especially if it is Black Metal!
And tremolo is mainly black metal.
Other wise if i don`t play really fast i can have the the other fingers in the air without touching nothing else on the guitar. I don`t know what you play so...

I actually bought my guitar (second, crap guitar) a couple of years ago, and play very often, like 5 times. Since that i have only played a couple of weeks now.

I guess mystrings are standard too. What is the difference in strings, the sound, or may it have to be a thing for different players??
Something else when i play tremolo on the string E, thick, i usually put my other fingers between string G and B for example to have it more easier for me. But i think its not very common to pick really fast on the E string.
Thanks everyone for advices and so. It was good to know, but i pretty much know how it can be, and i just have to practise.

Pretty much the major differences between strings is that the thicker the strings the lower you can tune down without the strings getting floppy. Mostly its a personal preferance thing. And as for my avatar it is a picture of my amputated finger when it was infected back in February. Mmm.... pus

i'd say action of the bridge plays a factor, the size of the pick, and how much u practice

alright, ill look out for the finger stuff when i watch other guitarists. but i get a pretty decent speed without it so guess ill stick to whatever it is i do. if you feel as though putting your fingers below the strings helps your speed, by all means do it
i play anything really, from jazz to black metal
oh, and my band were thinking of doing a grindcore version of "toot toot, chugga chugga, big red car" by the Wiggles for our final assembly thing at school (last year of high school for us and on the last day all the yr 12's dress up....yes were going as the wiggles and yes im the purple one cause im asian haha) think itd work out?

Anything form "jazz" to black metal???! What do you mean, someone either play one of, this is not related.
When i first think of guitars i think of metal music. And i don`t know about jazz, but i guess thats your "personal" thing", wich i do not understand.
Do not mess up things.
oh nevermind!!!
and by looking at "your favorite" bands, i don`t think you know what black metal is. (but katatonia is good)
