any tips on how to keep time with the song while soloing or soloing to the drums

Rhythm is something that comes naturally. Everyone is born with it just play what sounds right.

Practice with a metronome. Check out what other time signatures sound like. Triplets are a good way to spice up the beat.

It's probably worth playing it slowed down with a metronome/guitar pro, and then speed up gradually. Even if it isn't directly a speed problem, playing it at low tempos will help you understand the timing, I do this all the time for songs that have odd time signatures.

listen to the backing and tap your foot along with the song whilst playing.
oh and make sure you know what time/rythm you should be playing

Althought I suck at solos/leads all that shit...I guess playing with the song. Turn up your stereo and your amp to the same level so it sounds like you are playing on the song and practice. I did that with Mechanix by Megadeth and found out I was playing it to fast to the actual tempo...

Although powertab is nice for practicing with...the actual song is still better.
