of soldanos and drums.
so...heres how it goes... some idiot allowed my ass to get approved for $3,000 12 months same as cash on a guitar center card.
the fun begain. i took home soldano hot rod 50, serial # 00017... took her home... was digging it... but lets just say. "i love it but i'm not in love with it".
so, took her back... and did the only logical thing you could do with a $3,000 interest free credit limit... maxed it out buying a drumset.
just a random update.

i love this drumset... i like fancy finishes like that.
the smaller bassdrum(it's like 18x16 or something) sounds soo tuff... i have an evan's emad for it(they didn't have a superkick II in that size) and a gibralter double click pad. so punchy and loud.
iron cobras, they feel smooth and sound heavy.. but break down alot...
dw 5000's, they feel smooth and sound heavy, and don't break down alot.

it was a nice head... but really... after playing it for a week straight and then plugging into the splawn... i realized it wasnt worth it. the splawn just has that territory nailed.

you would think the higher the numbers, the better.... but the 5000 imo is the best dw makes, even thought 9000's are more expsensive... iron cobras and pearl eliminators are cool, but all my friends break em so quick. and axis... well, unless you have triggers or a mic, they just don't deliver.
never played that pdp.... i just bought this hi hat stand because i got it at cost(along with mad discounts on most this stuff) and honestly, it's a great two legged hi hat stand for like $35.

the 5000's have a turbo chain drive, and an accelerator chain drive(mine), and a strap drive...
the 9000's just have one that can be adjusted a bit more to be more like one or the other. they also don't offer a strap drive version.
i prefer my 5000...

Heh, lucky bastard. With the good possiblity of me getting a job in the near future, I've been thinking about getting some new gear. My first: a Ran! (definate at this point, even without my job...buhbye jackson RX10D)
Why go for Gretsch? Don't seem to be a brand good for "metal" drumming...more for the jazz timekeeper crowd, but what the hell do I know? I want a Sonor or Pearl double bass set...
Heh, I think I'm gonna have equipment to outfit a full band in my basement in two years.
I'm gonna skimp on the bass stuff and just buy a cheap DI box and run into whatever PA I snag
ANYWHO back to your shit
What's the splawn sound like? I've never tried either soldano or splawn, and have been curious about both....is that a splawn cab too? (what's the head on the side with the X's, you hardcore bastard?)

who says i'm a metal drummer?
it's a bad ass kit, with the emad, and the double click pad, that little bassdrum sounds so heavy. the toms are normal size 12" and 14". the snare is amazing though wood snares cut.
the k custom dry ride is an awesome pingy heavy ride, perfect for metal... the hi hats are the plain avedis mastersound hi hats with a ruffled bottom one. can't mess that up too bad. the best part is, my crash, it's an 18" avedis medium ride, and the other crash(not shown is a 20" k custom dark ride)
because i'm tuff like that. kats in SLC play rides for crashes(clifton, hercandane, lost in the fire, michigan, ect...)

that's my old fender roc pro 1000... just a half decent s.s. head i traded a kid a sonic maximizer and hush super c for. but i think we're trading back now because i don't need it and he wants it back.
the splawn rocks. period.
it's not a splawn cab... i'm keeping it's identity a secret from now on, because noone beleives me when i tell them what it is. it's got two g12t-75's and two g12-65's(i used to have v30's, but the g12-65's are the shit), weber beam blockers, new wiring, ect...

I played a 2nd hand combo.Excellent distortion, very clear and responsive to your playing.more than enough gain.I would compare the clean to a fender twin.Very quiet.shared eq.Excellent tone,I probally preffered it to what i heard from a SLO,but at the time i didnt have the money,i found it right after i got my e530 and my 840/50.
