So I just tuned to Gb...
...I actually like it. Usually I'll tune to B or A, but I thought I'd give it a whirl. Anyone else go this low?

you can just get Zakk Wylde Boomers by GHS, the low E string is a .70 gauge, I use them on my flying v cause I tune it to Dropped B/C# Standard, and they feel like I'm tuned to standard, maybe even UP a half-step

There's nothing wrong with downtuning unless all you do is play the same fuckin powerchord over and over and scream about how much you hate your parents and the people that beat your ass up at school.
Nile use Drop A, Wormed and Amon Amarth use Bb. Downtuning über alles.

Uhh Wormed is in B. And Brutus is in a fucking weird tunning G, D, F, D, F, A
Yeah G and G# are wicked. Coffins I think uses G tunning could be wrong. I know for sure Bile uses G#.
I usually tune to B and A and sometimes G.
So 70s are good strings for this tunning?

Gb... damn that's a lil too low for me. Lowest I go is around C#. I keep a rig at C#, D, Eb/E, just so I can venture different sounds. I'm sure Gb would be kick ass, but my poor skinny white fingers can't take the meat grinder.

Well if you all must know I'm using it to play some drone shit. It doesn't necessarily require down tuning, but it sure as hell helps. I tried doing some CBT or LDOH kinda stuff but it doesn't sound all that good (kinda muddy).
p.s. it makes sweeping eaiser by tunning this low, give it a whirl Necrophagist fans!!
Edit* oh yeah, how is downtuning assosiated only with new metal. Didn't Immoni tune to D. And Soundgarden tuned low in the mid-80s.

I keep my main axe tuned in D.
And i keep my spare in B for playing For the stabwounds in our back by amon amarth because my band covers that song.
