Band tip
I have come across a band that I think is quite new to you, at lest in its present version. Not new members, but a whole new line; from pretty brutal death, if I understand it correctly, to melodic. And I think it's good melodic to.
Nocturnal Rites they're called. Check out their site, www.nocturanlrites.com and see what you think; they have plent of examples on the site. I really think some of you will like it...

Oh so this is also defined as power metal. Well, I honestly wouldn't know.

Because it says in their bio that they started out as a death metal band, but later, as the band stabilised and the members became permanent, they drifted over to "melodic, harmonic metal".
Look, I don't want to argue about stuff like this, it was only a tip about a band that I found good and didn't think was very well known internationally. What genre something is really don't have any significane if you can sympathise with it, does it now? Come now, check it out or don't wast your time on this thread!

Download the video for Avalon, (Nocturnal Rites, not Stratovarius). Has a pretty cool melodic little solo, but the video has got to be the most ridicoulous thing I have ever seen. 
That was my facial expression when I first saw it. Before I started snoring.
When I woke up, I thought that video must have surely been a dream. It wasn't. It is all too real.
