I'd go for 11s or 12s

I'd reccomend 12's for D and C#(1.5 steps down) but nothing lower. If you're playing in C and B a lot(BEADGB), get the thickest you can buy like 13 guage, or get a custom guage, something thicker for your 6th string if you use flat tunings.
But it really depends how much tension you want from your strings. I like to crunch hard on strings so I don't like it when they're flimsy... And if you play death metal with a lot of tremolo picking then you just need tight strings.
Edit> Can anyone enlighten me with a good string brand? I have Earnie Ball .12's, but I wanna try a different brand cuz I hear there are way better ones. I don't care for elixir strings. I want strings that last a long time and hold tension well for ages... any ideas?

I play GHS Boomers .10's and I must say I enjoy them quite immensely.
And in response to the original question I'd go with .12's for C or B and all that wacky stuff.

The problem with these kinds of questions is that it depends on the scale length of the guitar and whether or not you prefer tight or slack strings when playing. One tuning could have heaps of suitable guages depending on these two factors.

I tune A E A D F# B, and I take a seven string set and throw out the high E string ( for now anyways ). My low A is a .58 and my high B is a .14. On a 25.5 Schecter guitar and its pretty tight. The only downside is that it does'nt facillitate legato playing quite as well as a standard-tuned set of .9's.

D'Addario XLs are a good, durable brand with solid tone. I use .13s in a standard C tuning (C F Bb Eb G C, my personal favorite) on a full-scale, 24 fret neck. They have a tension that's tight and responsive at tremolo and high speeds, but not inhibitory when it comes to bending. .14s in this tuning would be ideal if you want something on the tighter end and don't mind the extra work. A wound 4th string is also a plus for distorted tones.
Overall, good strings for down-tuned speed metal and grindcore type shit.
