That was painfully cliche. It's such a common feeling that you've described, but there's nothing there to make it stand out as a little bit different and nothing to make it more personal to a reader. Granted many could see themselves in it, but something to make it really hit home would give it more promise. If you added more to it that had a little more detail about the relationship it might make it better. When i just rescanned it it had a James Blunt feel to it. I love his stuff so that's not a bad thing.

Your structure and phrasing are good, but it just needs kicked up a notch.
