Megadeth Tabs

Ok, I have a question about the Megadeth tabs here and on other sites. Although the tabs sound close I've seen videos and live songs played differently. I was wondering if maybe someone could get more accurate tabs for me.

Thanks

Well, what tabs do you want? I know quite a bit about Megadeth and their tabs, I'll look around for you if you want.

I think Abysslords' Megadeth tabs are the most accurate you can get? They always seemed spot on to me...

Yeah true..

He's right though, I've looked at some of the guitarpro tabs and they have been a bit off, and I have also looked at some powertabs.net powertabs and THEY have been off.

If its powertab you can fix it yourself easy though...that is always fun...found an Old Man's Child tab that was incorrect and fixed it...now it is correct

There's a lot of dodgy Megadeth tabs about and some very dodgy song books too!
I'd put my cash on Abysslord's tabs being pretty spot on. He's very thorough and I know he watches videos to help him tab.

I'm not really sure about this since I haven't listenend to Megadeth for very long, but doesn't they actually play the same songs noticeably different on some concerts and videos compared to the albums?

Yeah, what the hell is with that!? I bought a compilation tablature book, and it sucks, very innacurate. This one as a matter of fact, I have a copy of - http://cgi.ebay.com/Best-of-Megadet...1QQcmdZViewItem

I also have the Rust in Peace book, and that one is very good.

Marty used to improvise a lot of his solos when playing live.

From an objective point of view [as much as that's possible], I'd say my tabs are as close as you can get from looking at other tabs and the tab books [which aren't bad, but sometimes have glaring errors]. I've updated them over the years as I've gotten better at transcribing, and I still feel one more update is necessary, but I'm happy with a lot of them as they are.

For solos, the Marty solos on Rust In Peace, Countdown To Extinction [except High Speed Dirt], and Youthanasia are as close to 100% as possible. Jordan Baker transcribed them and he's the best transcriber I've ever seen. He's done some Steve Vai tabs and Dream Theater and had those band members check them and they were accurate. He tabs by just hearing the notes and writing them down, and from what I've seen, he's rarely wrong. So those solos are trustworthy. He's also helped with a lot of the rhythms, so if his name is on my tab, it should be really good.

As far as fingerings, I've watched every video I can to make these accurate in that aspect as well. From what I've seen, how you see Dave play a rhythm live is how it is recorded. Every time there was a difference between what I had and how he played something, and it didn't make sense, I listened again and I figured out I had a note wrong or something. With the exception of Tornado of Souls [which he plays a C# note instead of D live because he said he forgot how to play it], everything he does live is on the album.

So while my tabs will have a few errors I'm sure, I'd recommend them to anyone learning to play Megadeth. Eventually I'm going to check them one more time, with Jordan's help, and make powertabs for every song [Already got some done for CTE and Youth]. That, unfortunately, will be far in the future, but I'll get there .... I hope

Here's my website btw: http://abysslord.com/megadeth

I have a tab book called, "Signature Licks: Megadeth Prime Cuts" And it seems close but I still have my doubts. It only has certain songs. It has high speed dirt if anyone would like that I could throw it up here. The song I really want is "A Tout Le Monde". I see Abysslord is very close but the solo is missing something. I would like to work with someone to tab stuff out. Other than that, I will think of more songs. Someone tell me if they have this book too.
