Akercocke - Words that go Unspoken, Deeds that go Undone
Whoa. Akercocke have outdone themselves once again, extending their unique sound of progressive black and death metal even further. The album is superb, perhaps even contending with Opeth for my favourite of the year (and that is definitely saying something).
Mendonca's voice is as brutal and eerie as ever, and he adds alot more emotion into some of his clean parts than he's ever done before. The guitars are amazing, with Wilcock definitely proving the point in his solos that he can fill Scanlan's shoes. The drumming, once again, is extremely interesting and just downright extreme, and I can even compare them to the quality of Nile.
The instrumental and clean parts of the epic songs could also be compared to the cultural sound from Nile, with some very nice background touches to build some great atmosphere.
This is definitely worth your money, and despite downloading it myself, I am picking up a copy first thing tomorrow.

You obviously have never (knowingly) hered Matt's work before. He was the guitarist for the Berzerker and more noteably Abremlin and Steel Affliction.

Well Scanlan Helped write some of the material on the album so it still has the akercocke sound but i still prefer "Choronzon" or "The Goat Of Mendes" and i got the album today and it has a DVD BONUS!!! but still not a bad album of course.
I will probaly get around to some tabs for some songs on this album.
Well i already have worked out Verdelet just when i can be bothered to tab it here

Yeah, I just ordered my copy (cheers, Robbie!) and I have to say it is an album that I have been eagerly awaiting for what seems like decades. Your description makes me even more impatient!

I've never been able to stand The Berzerker enough to listen to the guitars, and you obviously never paid attention to Scanlan's playing!
