PA?
I am looking into getting a PA system for my band. I need atleast 4 inputs. We are going to have 2 vocals and mic both guitars. We want something thats around 100watts. Does anyone have any good ideas for a PA system like that? Also we are kinda tight on money. Probably 200 is our max. Thanks

you won't sound any good thru a poor PA..
besides 100 watt pa poweramps ain't anything.. that's why ss amps in this wattage range are labeled as guitaramps, like rocktron velocity, marshall vs8008 etc..
I suggest you save up..
if you still must spend money on a PA system, buy a mackie mixer, they got really good preamps and for a poweramp.. if you only want 100 watts you could go with the above mentioned guitarpoweramps..
speakers? I don't know shit about speakers except that EV seem to be sturdy, of course there are billions of other options aswell

I dropped at least a couple grand into mine and I have something to shoot for...
EV Gladiators (REALLTY REALLY REALLY NICE MID-RANGE SPEAKERS) - normal price - $1600 (I got them for $800 brand spankin new)
Behringer Mixers (Shit quality but awesome price mixers) -$120 (4 channel)
Dbx dual channel EQ(awesome for price) $200 (one channel for monitors and one for mains)
Speakon cables (unless you want to make them.....)$100
QSC RMX2450 (KICKASS poweramplifier one of the best besides Crown Macro-tech) $800 normally (I got it for 500 using northern sound and light site)
...im getting more power for subs and preamps soon but thats basically the gist of it if you want a quality PA. If you are in the chicagoland are you can go to pro-mix.com for quality shit. And if you want a PA that doesnt sound like shit I have the basics and i still have alot to improve on so.......save your money.
P.S....... I hate carvin. If you are thining about going carvin for speakers, try Bag End instead.

Well here is what we want to do. Tell me if this is a bad idea or not. Both guitars have 100watt amps. For vocalist iv been using just a 50watt amp but found today that I can put a mic in my amp (Marshall 8100) in the recieve (i think) input and it does the mic and guitar, you can then change the volume of the mic on that. Is this hurting the head at all? But we want to have something for the vocals and to also possibly mic both guitars. We are a three piece without a bass. Is their any cheap system we could go with for just vocals? Cus we have the power we need amp wise. Thanks

Also I can put a mic in my amp in the line out and use the mic that way. Is that hurting my amp at all?

...fuck you rabbi......
And $200 really isnt going to get you anything. If you have the "power amp" youll need a mixer to run into the speakers (If you dont want it sounding like shit) and plus line out sounds like ballsack. Just use what you have and just yell into the mic until you can afford a good PA.

The 8100 is SS, so there's really nothing to hurt. It's just circuitry.

it has one bullshit preamp tube. If you're putting the mic into the recieve space of the effect loop, you're bypassing the preamp section.

Im not saying it wont work....because it will....but it sounds like a 3 year old getting kicked in the face by a donkey being castrated by a guy with 3 fingers.

Bottom line, just get a high powered mixer and two speakers for your vocals. It'll cost you money, but its worth it. Look to spend NO LESS than 500$. 400$ if you're lucky. If you spend much less, I doubt the vocalist will be heard.
Look into Peavey, I've already mentioned Carvin in this thread. Look at E-bay too, there are some fantastic deals.

*reviving thread*
True, a 500$ powered mixer w/two speakers is'nt quite a 1600$ pair of speakers with a 800$ poweramp ... Because not all of us can drop that much money on a PA system of that quality quite yet, such as myself. In the meantime, I just need something that works. Read on.
Alright, anyone who knows anything about PA equipment, for my death metal band, we just need something with enough power for our vocals to be somewhat heard, in the 5-800$ range, from this page :
http://www.carvin.com/products/group.php?CID=SYS1
If possible, we'd like to have the 100 or 200 watt mixer for our vox, but we're afraid that if we cut back that much on the power/price ratio, we'll be forever diming the gain knobs on our channels only to be drowned out by our instruments. Should we go ahead and spring for the 500 watter, or will the 200 watter do fine?

It depends on how hard your drummer and guitars play. the drummer for my band doesnt realize that he doesnt need to be in front of everything so when i turn up, he plays louder, hence i have to trun up the volume on the PA. if your drummers and guitarist know how to control volume you can get awaywitht the 200w with not-too-much headroom. the 500w would provide ample headroom when your drummer is angry and likes to beat the living shit out of his drums.

Well, my drummer is about to get a 8 piece double bass kit, and my rig pushes an ample wattage, so we'll go with the 500 watt system.
