New EXODUS "Shovel Headed Kill Machine"
Ok new Exodus is out i had some doubts bieng that the only remaining member left was gary wondering how it would sound but then came to my senses and bought it the new singer Rob Dukes holds his own and well paul Bostaph no need to say anthing there, Lee altus, remember Heathen fucking shreds, this shit is definetly fucking exodus any thoughts on how much these guys kill and allways have  |

The vocals are still very Exodus at times but Rob growls a little more and doesn't do that yodaling warble thing that Steve Souza used to do at times.

dude get it, compared to fab disaster its more prog with todays tempos but definetly farmiliar to that robs vocals definetly have balls

This one's pretty good, but not as good as Tempo. The riffs are decent enough, but the lyrics took kind of a step down. I liked some of the lyrical work on Tempo, but this one definetely has some weakness in that area. It's good though.

Just got this, and as much as I'm addicted to thrash, there's something missing. Not sure what it is. It's a pretty solid record. Good leads, good production, great drumming (Bostaph)... but I prefer the old demented parrot screech to this new quasi-hardcore style of vocals, which are downright unconvincing in parts (title track in particular). It's probably that the sound is noticably more generic than Tempo. I'd hoped it would sound more like, well, Exodus.

It sounds like a band striving to be Exodus, or at least Exodus as codified on Tempo of the Damned. Bostaph is forced to drum like Hunting, Dukes tries to follow the vocal rhythms of Souza, Holt writes riffs that sound like riffs Holt might write, and so on. It's not bad, but it's just not good enough to have warranted the listens I gave it.

I listened to it. Didn't like it.
I haven't heard any of their older stuff, but I thought that with Kirk Hammet out of the picture, these guys oughta kick ass. Was wrong.
The growling hardcore type vocals just don't do it for me. It's like everybody is trying to do that these days. Where have all the damn singers gone?

Yeah so it ain't Bonded By blood or Pleasures of the Flesh, but it's not a bad album and I don't dislike it. To say that the new vocalist had big boots to fill and this is the first proper band he's been in apart from a few knock around hardcore bands in NY, I don't think he did too bad a job. At least Exodus have and are keeping it heavy and thrashy and don't have blood and spunk on the cover and the word 'load' somewhere in the title!
