Seeing as English is not my native language, could anyone be so kind as to explain the meaning of major and minor scales? I'm not a newbie on the guitar, it's just that I honestly haven't been able to translate it...

minor being the pattern of WHWWHWW

theres alot of differnt minor scales, like harmonic minor, it sounds like some thing u would hear from a snake charmer.

Course you were joking! So was I, largely, altough I do enjoy a bit of conversational dodging. Of course, some of the spice of it is lost in writing, but what the heck.
Swedish is my native language, and there's that. Now, as for the question in my last post, it sprung from what happened when I was playing with a bassist last week. For the hell of it I started to try to incorporate some reagge elements I do know into a sort of melodic metal song we often play, and he just carried on and did some sort of samba or whatever. Anyway, the result was, if not great music, so at least a good laugh!

Haha, exactly! Anybody who doesn't speak Norse won't be helped by their conversation and I didn't see many translation of English phrases to aid any explanations.

Generally the folk here are very helpful and are devoid of spamming/whoring qualities so I'm willing to take peoples' word on the theme of the above conversation. I don't want to discourage people from helping those with a real problem in understanding theory so feel free to provide translations and help in other languages (afterall the thread is about breaking the language barrier), but it'd be appreciated if people could conduct the main bodies of their posts in English so I can keep track of whether the thread is staying on topic.
