Just use fruity loops. It exports patterns into .wav's or .mp3's

It's quite simple. Most drum sequencers work in the same fashion... click the box and it will sound at that instant. Then when your ready to export. Click File >> Export >> (Choose Format)

I've never had an older version of fruity loops, but this new version (I have producer edition) will export into mp3.
SARS: Thanks for the links! Excellent library of sounds, free too!!

Use FL for "drums" (real drumkit), and use sound forge,or cubase for mix and processing.Good combination for home production.(the only thing you need is very good mic for best results)(lower gain for less noise)

Depends how,
using three 8ths or whatever as a triplet is a bit hard to do, I still don't know whether you can change the bar settings so instead of there being 16 beats in each bar you can change it with 32 or 64.....i don't know, I know cubase allows that....but I don't think fruity loops can.

If you wanna do triplets or 32nds, just adjust the BPM. You'll have to re-do all the drums to compensate for the time change, but you can do it. You'll also have to edit the number of bars your drums will repeat. Standard timing is usually in increments of 4, for offbeat timing, use increments of 6. Lemme know if you need help.

You could do it in cubase or something, and then import it into fruity loops. You will find that all 32's and 64's are cut up from 16th's within fruity loops then.
Or just use any midi programme to cut down 16ths to 32's & 64's, import them and leave them as an option somewhere in a different track. Whenever you move those notes the next note you "click in" will be the same.

I don't find fills that hard to do to be honest with you, I only really use fruity loops for whatever song I've just written so I'm usually using anything between 220/260 BPM, even just using the 16th block you can still pull off a pretty nifty drum solo or fill.

To make it sound real you need a drum sample with left and right hand hits, you can make these yourself by adjusting the the attack on the snare, eq-ing it differently from say the rh hit. For example I use reason 2.5 and have lh and rh for every sample, also left kick drum and right kick drum. You'll also want to have various strength of hits for each drum. Pan the drums like you would mic a real kit, snare/kick/hh in the centre, cymbals and toms panned around like you are sitting behind the kit. Use 64 steps for each bar, have bpm set high and use the flam button for rolls. All of this takes a lot of time, getting the levels right is tricky too. Alternatively use drumkit from hell, all the samples are lh and rh.
