Keeping neck clean?

I live in S. California, and it is almost always hot here. So I can't help it when my palms sweat. Now this becomes a problem when playing guiar because my guitar neck gets dirty really easily, and it becomes very difficult to slide.

Is there anyway around this?

Whenever you change the strings take a cloth and clean though and between the frets. Make sure you get all the dirt from arount the frets. You should also find some kinda spray made for the fretboard cleaning at some guitar store.

I keep a cloth with my guitar and amp so i can wipe down the strings and neck after I play. Helps stop the buildup of finger-shit on the strings too

Actually I was talking about the back of the neck. Should have said. I have fretboard oil to keep the fretboard clean, but the back gets dirty really very fast.

Yeah thats what i thought, just wipe it down after you play if you can, it will help keep it clean.

Would probably work well with a paper towel

Alcohol swabs would probably work quite well

I use bore oil twice a year on my fretboards. A little last a long time.

Just keep a soft cotton towel near to wipe the neck and your hands down when ever it starts to get nasty. Washing your hands just before you play helps too. After you are done playing give the fretboard, neck, and strings a really good wipe down. That will really help keep your shit clean.

I used this stuff last time I changed my strings. It's literally just some yellow oil. It smells like lemon, but it tastes fucking nasty. It got a lot of the dirt out of the frets and give the fretboard its shine back.

It's supposed to be good for rosewood fretboards, but apparently it will eat away at maple fretboards. That is why I am hesitant to try it on the back of the neck of my guitar. I have a rosewood fretboard, and I use the oil on it, which is fine, but I don't want to risk damaging the back of my neck.

I'll try your suggestion Soul.

Thanks all.

My buddy is a grubby cunt and he has to carry sandpaper with him everywhere and scrape grime off UNDERNEATH the strings, but not on the neck. But obviously scraping the bottom of the strings will help keep your neck clean, I'm just lazy so i can't be fucked.

whenever i clean my shit, i usually just scrape the top of my string with my pick if im already playing or i wipe it down with a cloth. i cant stand playing guitar with wet or tender hands though so i dont wash my hands pre-shred. this is probably why my family has a reputation for dirty fretboards

for lemon oil it depends on the type of fretboard u have. for example if u have rosewood, u dont need to do much to it except play. and maybe do the alchol every once in a while
