A good flamenco guitar...?
Im just starting to learn Flamenco. I have been playing guitar already for around 2 years and I want to learn Flamenco. Im planning on getting one off of this website: http://www.casabenelly.nl/default_E...hambra/body.htm but i dont know which one to get, for a low price, and that's good to last me several years. Another thing, in order to play flamenco do you HAVE to get a flamenco guitar, or can a Classical one be just as good?

A classical and a flamenco are pretty much the same thing. (there are a few differences, nothing much though) If you want a good guitar you are going to have to invest a little because:
1. cheap nylon-strings have tops made of plywood.(yes plywood) We use plywood as floors because it is so strong. Good for construction, not good for a guitar. The plywood top wont vibrate like it should because of its stiffness, therefore the sound will suck. A good flamenco top is going to be spruce. And try to find like a cypress back and sides. (or a wood similar) This will help to give you the bite you need with flamenco.
2. cheap guitars in particular suck. They are made by a team of people who only do one thing. get something better. Find a hand-made (by ONE luthier)
I like Ramirez, but it is all personal preference. Just find one that sounds good.
and fits your style. Shop around.
3. Find a guitar teacher. Preferably a classical or flamenco teacher. He/She will have a good ear and can tell you when you find a good one.
( I bought a realatively cheap guitar for my first. Its and Esteve. It sounds pretty good. Not as good as I would like now, but something like it would suffice for a first guitar. I think I paid 7 or 800 for it and a pretty solid gig bag.
hope it helps

Hey thanks man .
Just a question, if you could, can you help me find a good one on - this- site? Classical or flamenco dont matter. But within the price-range of around 300-400$. Thanks man.

Valeriano Bernal custom made guitars are fuckin, cool for flamenco, but did you know that the old Flamenco guitars where the cheapest guitars. I mean the gipsys didnīt got enough money to buy a real guitar (in Spain), so they used to use the cheapest woods. So their playing is that strong.
Alhambra 7 Fc is cool to.(and xpensive)
I think that for the range of price it would be an Alhambra.
BUt there are a lot of differences between the same model guitars, try to play something with them and buy the best.

The Alhambra looks like its about as close as you are gonna get. e-mail them and ask them about the woods used i.e. make sure they are not talking about a sheet of spruce plywood. Ask for a sound byte of the guitar being played. if they dont have one thats fine. The 3f is the only one in the price range, but it doesn't come with a case. but cases arent expensive.
It all comes down to how you want to sound. I used to have a cheap acoustic(steel-string) and thought it was absolutely WONDERFUL. As my playing progressed I began to notice that my guitar sucked. I couldnt get the tone I was looking for out of it. And in the end it made it harder for me because I had to work extra hard to get something to sound right. Everyone has their own standards of how something should sound. I know people who think they are God's gift to the guitar, but in all actuality they suck. Then again I know people who think they suck but are absolutely amazing.
If you are planning on stepping up to a better guitar soon...(a year or two) I would not worry about too terribly much about this guitar. Just make sure it sounds decent. But you wont be able to get into the REALLY good sounding guitars until you get well up into the thousands or so in price. (not meaning to dishearten you, its the truth) But a decent one can carry you for a while.
Every guitar sounds different. So if a buddy of yours orders a guitar off that web site and it sounds amazing, you could order that same one and it never sound as good. I am kinda iffy about ordering like that. An electric I can understand, but acoustic has so many ifs. The 3f seems ok. just make sure its a real top, not plywood, and if they act like they dont know what youre talking about with plywood, i suggest moving on. But if they say no we dont use plywood, ask for the sound byte...and judge from that...but get someone else to listen too...because you wanting the guitar can make you think it sounds good. let someone else in on it. ok. im through rambling. just be careful. let me know what happens. and dont hesitate to ask more questions.
