I need a new bass guitar. Any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated!

I'm playing a shitty ESP right now. It has a really pingy, metallic sound that I hate, and I play with a pick. Any suggestions for a bass with rich lows and mids? Something thick and warm, with very little punch. Any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated!

Hmmm...sounds to me like you need to play with your fingers. Picks will give you that "pingy, metallic" sound, and fingers naturally give you that "rich lows and mids".

Cheers.

True about the fingers, and I could also suggest a little EQ. In my recent experience the amp and EQ is as much responsible for your sound as your instrument and touch. Plus I guess you're playing a shitty LTD because most ESPs are pretty decent instruments.

get a felt pick, they will give you the sound of your fingers with the pick technique.

Every time I've had the opportunity to play an ESP (or even a few LTD's) they've sounded great. Maybe you need a new amp, not a new bass. Or just try to EQ some more bass and low mids into your settings.

Cheers.

ive been like you once but i got some advice from people. I was having trouble keeping up with some lamb of god so i posted about it and i was given advice for a 3 finger picking technique. if it sounds to "complicated just watch a video of alex webster(cannibal corpse bass player( for those who are retarded and dont know)) he uses a 3 finger plucking technique and trusat me its alot faster and more efficient than using a shitty technique like a pick

He could even just try two fingers. Three is great dont get me wrong but I use two and im trying to master that before I nail three. Eventually you can get those blinding speed notes down with two fingers it just takes longer than three, but in the long run it refines your technique and looks way more impressive

If you need help getting started playing pizzicato/fingerstyle try doing some simple tapping excersises that will get the blood flowing to the right hand.
