Boss GE-21 EQ
What is this and is it good? I got Line 6 Pod XT Live. Iīm some what satisfied with my tone but I think it can get better. The Pod XT only got 4 EQ barometers. How is this compared to the KFK MXR EQ?
Read an interview with Kerry King and he said that the EQ was the only thing that You couldnīt take away from him without his sound would be shit. So I guess an EQ is kinda important...
What You guys think..?

Basicly any equalizer that has 7+ bands is ok. The mechanics behind equalizers are pretty simple, most companies make decent eq's.
If you want something cheap yet usable, the danelectro eq pedal is pretty good. Altough it is made of plastic, so don't count on it lasting a long time..
Otherwise i would reccomend the boss GE-7

EQ is very important. I have to agree with King about it being one of the key elements for producing a ideal tone. Believe it or not, Slayers guitar tone doesn't actually have a shit load of distortion as much as it is just EQed to sound badass. Both King and Hanneman EQ differently and then almost completely pan their guitars to the left and right balance seperately. Together that is one of the things that give Slayer their tone.

Thatīs exaclty what Iīm trying to acheive! I use the 800 amp on my Pod XT and it donīt deliver that much gain/distortion but it sounds really good. But to get that clean and clear tone You need an EQ. And of course be able to set it up right..

They got a great tone and sound!
Donīt think Slayer would do with let say Pantera sound/tone. Or some heavy death metal sound. Their sound is perfect for the music they play.

It is fairly simple to get Slayers tone, I think most of it has to do with the EMG's to get it crisp.

In an interview with Kerry King he sid it was the EQ what was his secret weapon. But to get a Slayer tone; Marshall JCM 800 with alot of mids, Marshall 1960 cabs, EMGs and the Boss RGE-10 EQ and of course their settings...

It was Samson 15 band EQ 2 channels. Donīt know what model. We got to try it out yesterday and it was great! Got a cleaner and clearer sound. Didnīt think an EQ could do that much to the sound... But it could! Was worth the money for sure! But now Iīm broke again.

I guess if they wanted it to sound really good and really whatever they would have got that sound and the gear to make that happen. I donīt think they lack of money or anything... I like their sound and I think it fits the music they play very good. Itīs raw and hard! No fancy shit! Just good olīMarshalls...

I didnīt hear Seasons... But I can understand that they mess up the fast part in Rainig Blood. We played that song once when I was drunk... My right hand was alright but my fingers were way off! So no more beer for me on stage.
