That RR would be a nice rig. So would that js1. Ibanez RG's are also really nice and affordable too.

The Jackson JS30 series(V, Warrior, Kelly, and RR bodies available in black, red, and blue) go for $300. The Dinky JS30 goes for like $340. I have JS30 Kelly and it's very nice. Maybe you should save up a little more and get a KVX10 or a RR1 if you want a Jackson.
Ibanez RG321 and RG370dx are in your price range, very nice guitars.
And then there's the guitars at Rondomusic. So if you're a cheap bastard and don't mind no-name brands, grab one(or two) from that site.

I saw some pretty good reviews at HC for SX and Douglas guitars. Don't know about SX, none of the SX's interest me except the one with a liscenced Floyd bridge and their Gibson Explorer copy.
I might be buying a Douglas Hornet next month, I need a 2nd guitar but it's also out of sheer curiousity. If I hate it I'll just return it and try the SX with the floyd, but those Les Pauls are extremely appealing..

haha, don't worry, nobody is going to recomend you a peavy or fender guitar.
some might recommend a bc rich, but i wouldn't get one if you have a low budget..

OK, I am a newbie metall guitar player so don't come down to hard on me, but with the added metall dist I have really fallen in love with my new JD. It's a really good brand, at least a bit up in the price classes so if you see one it might be a good idea to try it out.

Yea, it's a pedal from Danelectro - FAB Metal - wonderful little thing; level at perhaps 40% and it made a damn near succesful attempt at blowing the casing of my amp, but that's beside the point here. What really got me started playing seriously - among other things - was simply holding that J&D (Stratocaster-copy). It's got a great feel to it.
