Any ideas? strange question...

So I'm Australian and will be in the U.S over xmas and I want to get an Avatar 2x12 cabinet. Only problem is I can't take it with me as i'm already full of stuff to bring back. I want to mail it as it is the cheapest way to ship goods internationally but Auspost only accepts packages up to 44 pounds, and you guessed it, the Avatar weighs 45. Any ideas on how I can shave a pound in weight off the sucker?

dis-assemble it, and ship it in two different packages

I have to agree that is a great ideal. Take a speaker out and ship it in 2 parkages. Check different carriers for the best price. I think FedEx might be the cheapest.

Cheers for the help, that was my idea also, just not sure how difficult it would be to wire in the speaker once I got home, should be easy enough I guess.

if theres wheels on the bottom, take them off, if you can take off anything unessassary (handles etc...) take them off too, i would take appart the cab unless you know what your doing exactly, it would suck ass to get home with your two peices and hook it back up and to have it not work

there are only two cables that you have to put into the position they were in before, shouldn't be too hard.

2 cable's per speaker.. it's not rocket science.
I think the main problem would be with getting it assembled as sturdy as it was before, but if you'r methodicle, it should work..

I would say you can get a pound off that way, then just take those with you on the plane back. thats what I would try anyway.
its fucked up they take 44 and not 45... you could try it anyway its just one pound they would probably still take it

A) i agree that if its possible to shed a pound without taking the thing apart, do it.

B) if you do have to take it apart, it's very easy to get back together
