Get the Ibanez...then get the electronics for the ESP and put them in the Ibanez.

I'm with subsonic. I've had a 5-string Ibanez for 6 years now and have basically beat the shit out of it. It's still in perfect playing shape and all I have ever wanted to do to it is gut the insides and toss in emg's.

That's exactly what I'm doing to mine. I just priced out the active EMG's, and pre-amp booster...all told it's gonna cost me $239 installed. The EQ I'm leaving, it's good enough, and it's over $350 to get the 3-band EQ on it's own, plus installation But yeah, the Ibanez takes a beating, that's for sure, and it never goes out of tune, the neck is amazingly fast, what more could I ask for!!!
Cheers.

ibanez. jap made quality, they've been building SR's for ages.
at esp you get an LTD from korea which has poor build quality plus esp isnt exactly well known in the bass world, more like just recently they started making series to cash in.

ESP is better in my opinion, Ibanez have too classic sound.
