Ensiferum news
Oliver left Ensiferum.
"As some of you may have already noticed, there's been a new man behind the drums at the live concerts during the past six months. Janne Parviainen has been substituting for Oliver Fokin and is now a steady member. The main reason for this change in the band was that there were too many differences of interests."
"The earlier mentioned mini-cd will be
recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki."
"The third studio album is scheduled
to be recorded in the summer of 2006."

ive never understood why some people think certain keyboard and guitar melodies are "cheesy". doesnt really make sense. fuck, they're just notes. i guess it would make more sense if i found a certain group of notes played by a certain setting of synth or style of guitar to be "cheesy". however i think im quite glad i dont have this way of looking at music/notes.
edit: i dont mind changes of drummers much. vocals and guitar changes can screw up a band though. ensiferum rock.

i just dont get it, what is "cheesy" in the music? considering that "cheesy" is defined as having poor quality. im sure people arnt using it in this way though. ive found that when most people say a part of a song is cheesy, its usually my favorite part. thus, totally baffling me.

Yeah, like in power metal when they use major to make it sound happy its super corny. I've never been cursed with this distaste myself either.

haha. but im more of a symphonic/atmospheric black metal fan. Immortal are decent, but i only have At the heart of winter, so i guess im used to them as being 2 members. I think this is the only album i will own of theirs too. I need more than what they play, its kind of melodic, but it doesnt really strike me as melodic. that, and the lack of keyboards kind of turns me away. though i do listen to black metal, i fucking hate "raw" or "tr00" black metal, just boring.

I like some power metal, Like Kamelot and Rhapsody, but alot of it is just way to cheesy for my tastes, but Ensiferum I dont exactly consider all out Power metal, they just rock in general

Actually no...
I've been listening to them since the first week their ST was released. I almost went insane of the U.S. release delay for Iron.

"ENSIFERUM To Release 'Dragonheads' In February
Finnish folk-influenced melodic death metal band ENSIFERUM, now featuring in its ranks NORTHER frontman Petri Lindroos, have set "Dragonheads" as the title of their new EP, due in February 2006 via Spinefarm Records. The mini-CD is being recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki and will contain one new track, new studio recordings of several old demo songs, and a couple of traditional Finnish folk covers. The group's next full-length release is scheduled to be recorded in the summer of 2006. A European tour is tentatively slated to kick off in March 2006."

Ensiferum's new mini-CD "Dragonheads" is completed even down to it's
mastering. The mini-CD was recorded and mixed last November at Sonic
Pump Studios by Nino Laurenne and mastered by Mika Jussila from Finnvox.
Dragonheads contains six tracks:
1. Dragonheads
2. Warrior's Quest
3. Kalevala Melody
4. White Storm
5. Into Hiding (Amorphis cover)
6. Finnish Medley:
- Karjalan Kunnailla - Myrskyluodon Maija - Metsämiehen Laulu
Spinefarm Records has announced that the release date for
"Dragonheads" is 15.2.2006

No, I haven't heard them. I've heard the Kalevala melody though.

"Ensiferum thanks everyone who attended the 10th Anniversary Celebration concert. If everything goes according our plans, the DVD of that gig will be released at June or July 2006.
The recording of the third Studio Album begins next fall and the release of that album occurs at the end of this year, at the earliest."

"Ensiferum started the recording of the third full-lenght studioalbum in the first of November at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki. The Name of the third album will be “Victory Songs” and the producer of the album is Janne Joutsenniemi.
The band has also started to collaborate with Welldone booking agency. Teemu Suominen of Welldone will be taking care of the concert booking in Finland. This will increase the concerts in Finland, which has been few-numbered in the past. The concert booking in abroad is still being handled by ICS Festival Service.
Ensiferum will begin their next year’s tour with a small Finnish tour
in January. More information of the gigs is found in the Tour Info –section."
