Set up help

I've got a Mesa Boogie Dual Rec. and a GNX3 I've been trying to hook up together for the longest time, but the signal I get is complete shit. All the effects coming off the GNX sound very dirty and overly distorted and when I bypass the board to get the natural distortion, it sounds watered down.

I've tried endless combinations and settings to clear all this up, but nothing has really helped (besides turning off the silicon diods). I've played my board through other half stacks and it sounds bitchin' - but this dosen't. Has anyone got any ideas? I really don't have the money to invest into individual pedals.

Does the amp sound bitchin without the pedal?

Are you running it through the fx loop?

The amp is an ass kicking fat kid without the the pedal. I've tried the FX Loop before and it dosen't sound different than just running through the main input, but I may have been hooking it up wrong.

Dude, I have a MF350 and have the same problem. It doesn't matter if I run it in front or through the FX loop, the amp still sounds better with out it. It sounds pretty good with the amp set absolutely clean. You have to really tweak the hell out of the GNX to make it sound right through the oversize, big bottom cabs. Kinda tinny and hollow on the factory settings.
Now I run through a Morley Tripler with #1 out to the GNX, then in stereo out to the PA, and #2 to a Dunlop Wah to the MF. A little delay on the GNX and you have an awesome back up sound. No kind of distortion pedal sounds as good as the amp itself.
