Reading some of "Be" by Pain of Salvation and some of a concept piece a friend is writing got this inspired, but I don't know how I came up with some of it really. Thanks for reading and commenting if you do. It will be finished in the continuing post after.

So cold when I'm sitting here under the stars
Drinking the wine of fall's promises.
Pretending that everything will be alright
From now on.
Handing the cash over to the banker
That lets me stay warm and dry.
Instead of being kept in the castle
I choose to escape to the clouds.
Only the clouds disappear as I sit here
And toast the stars in the sky.

Trust you, my friend, to be different
To keep confident what I've chosen to say.
The window that opened but still left mystery
With quiet lips only speaking partial thoughts.
Seeing the shadow growing longer
Like slowly dying away from the tunnel of light.
Gripped firmly where no one but me can see
And perchance whoever can see into my soul.

Smiling as I say "Where for art thou?" to no one in particular.
I've gotten used to this habit of talking to myself.
Maybe it's to the reflection of the crystal I drink from
Maybe to a ghost from the past.
Jollity under the stars while dancing with a long armed branch
Fallen from the tree that had become
My sturdy something-to-lean-upon.
Please don't choose to topple now, oh, old and weather one.

Tripped by one of the many feet whose toes lay above the ground
I'm forced to sit down as the sky spins around.
"To the trees and the sky who seem to have no limits!"
Maple tree let me use a bare root for my rest tonight.
Let your colors tickle down to give me warmth I won't feel,
But need to survive til I wake quaking, chilled and dewed in the morning.
Tonight my tears will feed my pillow.
So please watch over me as I lie down to dream.

Why thank you, Bob. That really makes me happy you liked it. I'll tell you because it will make sense since you know the yard. I got the idea for dancing with the tree branch because there was a big one that fell from the big tree by the barn on the north side and it was just propped up there. And you know how those roots stick out of the ground. That would be the pillow idea.

I write all sorts of stuff so take a peek now and then. maybe you can come up with a melody line for something.
