Fixing my acoustic's bridge...
I have a Washburn D-10 acoustic, it's a very nice guitar but it's quite old. The bridge has gradually been peeling off towards the neck. The space between the bridge and body now is about 1 cm. Not enough to worry about the bridge flying off, but I still want to get this fixed.
I want to fix the bridge and change these 7-year old strings that came on it. How should I go about fixing the bridge? Simply removing the strings and using strong wood glue to fix the bridge back on? What scares me is that I won't be able to restring until the woodglue dries, so the neck might warp, AND besides not knowing how to adjust a truss rod, the truss route seems lousy, so it's probably impossible to adjust. What should I do? Preferably something that doesn't involve a luthier/techie, the motherfuckers in my area charge a fortune for simple routine setup bullshit... (ie: $60 for pickup installation!).
Will the neck warp in a day if I leave the glue to dry that long?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: Also, what are some good acoustic strings? I hear Elixir make really good acoustic strings, is this true?
