Said Of Zen
I've heard this said of my faith Zen before (of which I am quitea heretic to actually...).
It's quite poetic and I absolutely get it strangely enough... I have to explain it over and over to my peers and teacher in RMPS every damn day (Religious, Moral And Philosophical Studies, a Scottish thing).

Here it is for the impatient and can't-be-bothered-to-upload.
When the path of Zen is first trodden upon,
Mountains are mountains, water is water,
When the path of Zen is being walked upon,
Mountains are no longer mountains, water is no longer water,
When the path of Zen is completed,
Mountains are again mountains, water is once more water.

Haha let me guess:
When the path of Zen is first trodden upon,
Mountains are mountains, water is water, - Ignorance
When the path of Zen is being walked upon,
Mountains are no longer mountains, water is no longer water, - Awakening
When the path of Zen is completed,
Mountains are again mountains, water is once more water. - Knowledge
Am I right?

Yes, very good. Although that is a little obvious.

Indeed it is. I'm surprised your teacher didn't get it!

The teacher is a newbie to our school but she's been teaching for years.
She overtook who I called my mentor, Graham Nixon. He got offered this high-end lecturer job. He was so fucking inspiring! I remember it was he who was amazed to find a little 13-year-old reading and getting Paul Davies. He was so open-minded and appreciative. I first saw this on a poster he had. He never got it. He left before I could try to explain. I'm assured that when he left, it would not be the last time I would meet him...

Try meditating on polarities while running a bath. Seal yourself in the bathroom and do not give in to any habit. That's what I'm gonna do right now... It's great.

Just a real-life situation.
This cannot be elaborated upon.
It is in it's simplest form.
Go on.
Think of one.
I can think of a Buddhist context which makes Zen so heretical.
Or ordinary Theravada and Mahayana the heresies.
The revelation of their contradictions.
The reasons not to follow their delusions of non-existence.
