Poweramp fitting to a Peavey Rockmaster?
hey
a friend of mine needs to buy a new amp in some time and he can get a Peavey Rockmaster pre-amp from another guy we know
i'm just looking for some references on which poweramp would fit to it, it's probably gonna be a used one and has to be under $400-500
i was thinking about that g-flex 212 as a cab, what do you think?
greetz
Wicked
edit: the stuff doesn't have to be all metal, he plays punk, rock and metal, but he's not the death metal guy
should have some balls anyway

Well Peavey Classic 50/50 or 60/60, Marshall 50/50 (older series are cheaper), either of these will surely fit, Mesa or Marshall 20/20 should be fitting too. I reckon they can be found for 400-500$ or even under that. These were only tube stuff but wait for xdx he might have something to say about this.

at my music school they have a peavey classic 30 combo, which totally sucks for everything that got something to do with distortion (IMO)
but that hopefully doesn't has anything to do with the poweramp, right? :>

that'd be the preamp's fault no the power section.
you're talking about the classic series heads/combos. slabbefusk was talking about the 'classic 50/50(2x50w) or 60/60(2x60w) tube poweramps'. they're great and can be had for cheap prices.
g-flex cabs are good.

I've played Rockmasters thru the loop return of my 5150 (that's how the RM clips on my site were recorded), a Marshall 20/20, and a Mesa 20/20 and it sounds great thru all of them. A power amp with 6L6's will give you a nice tight bottom end with clarity good for modern stuff. An EL84 or EL34 power amp will add some crunch and works a little better for classic rock and 80's stuff.

I wanna get a real poweramp for my Rockmaster too, I'm tired of running it through the loop of my Musicman RD-100 because I can't play high volume without it sounding like some overdriven SS amp. I reckon its because the loop on the Musicman isn't tube driven or something.
