RUDRA - PROPER EASTERN DEATH METAL - Anyone heard them before?
On www.blackmetalradio.com, I came across this band called Rudra. They had a very, very Eastern sound. It sounded proper, mixed with rather malcontent death/black. Everyone have a look for it. I've forgotten where it is in their great archive, but it's not too far in. If I go back on blackmetalradio and find it again I'll post it's location. I couldn't help but listen to it on repeat! |

There are more than 70 episodes of BM Radio and they aren't archived. You'll have to be more specific. Only someone truly deranged would browse through that many things with "Golgotha" in the title.

them being fellow indians (although settled in singapore), i have their first three albums. kurukshetra was a much much better and refined effort as compared to rudra & aryaputra. their theme is usually the vedas...or ancient indian scriptures as you'd say. kurukshetra is about the mahabharatha (dunno how many of you have heard about the mahabharatha...its the longest epic poem in all of history).
anyway, about their music...i liked them in the beginning but now barring the fact that they're indians who've made a name in metal (which is pretty rare to say the least), i dont see anything tantalisingly special in their music (hah musically, i'd prefer narsil anyday  ) their latest album primordial I has been making waves in & around the subcontinent but i havent heard it yet.

there are a lot of wanna be bands here that try to fuse good metal with classical indian music but they end up in shit(orange street anyone)
but rudra's music is a really nice fusion with chants being repeated and classical instruments being played in the low mix |

Whooo... Ancient thread. For new readers, I meant proper, because I thought it sounded a lot more Eastern melody-wise than many others who incorporate such a sound.
