I LOVE rolands electric drum kits, the TD-12 is VERY nice, never played the Yamaha, but I would say go with roland, IMO they are better, the pads etc. are better quality, more realistic and better feel.

have you ever recorded with td 12 bmasssault?nz i think that roland is overpriced and yamaha has better hardware, and that the mesh pad rebound isnt so realistic...and also roland price for td 12 is 3700euros without the rack and the hardware, without a fourth tom and a second crash...yamaha costs 3000,and everything is included.what do you think??

the mesh rebound is sooooo much more realistic than the other one dude, plus you can 'tune' it, so if you like nice tight heads (don't we all) you can crank that puppy up, if you like n loose you can take it down a notch, and the TD 12 has lots of cool things like rim triggers, etc. and bell/edge/choke on cymbals. and the yamaha doesn't have that I believe.

I STRONGLY recomend the Roland, I do believe the extra money is worth it

I would definitly go with Roland. Mesh heads are alot better in my opinion. I hate pads.

i spent some time at guitar center playing on those mesh head electro kits.......i hate the feel of all those electronic kits, it seems like you can do anything you know but 10 times better on those things, that surface has way too much bounce, volume control coming from a speaker as opposed to what you are hitting at, too awkward for me

edit: those things are fun to play tho, it just feels like a toy

Haha, thats exactly why I like them. You can play fairly faster, easier. You don't waist too much energy either because everytime I play one at Guitar Center, they kick me off so someone else can use it, haha. Mesh heads are really fun to play.
