anyone tried any gain mods with a plexi? what did they sound like and what was the mod?

ive heard George Lynch and Slash both used modded plexis (I guess with an added tube/gain stage), it'd be a cool feature to have on a plexi to be able to switch something like that on

yep a mig 100 (russian jcm 800 clone). and actually it wasnt a "i bought it and got it modded with the standard mig 100 mod. it was one of trace's prototype heads based around the hex that i just traded my rivera for.

rebuilt point to point with top notch parts and wiring.

i suggest not listening to most of the clips on voodoo's site. they all sound like shit imo(scoopy mids, to much gain, nu metal riffs, ect.. ). but the amps that they mod really sound good.

if you want a simple mod, like another preamp tube for a couple more gain stages. i'd go somewhere else... try scott splawn or jerryp maybe.

i'm up for doing it myself, im currently handwiring a point to point board in a reissue plexi, so electronics is no problem - its getting a good mod blueprint that will sound half decent

Yeah what he said! FJA Mods I have some modded MArshall clips on my site. The Sovtek MIG is a killer amp. I just sold a modded MIG 100 to a local studio and they love it. Heavy as hell tone.
