Hmmm, I never would have guessed that you'd be taking a computer course, bunny. The only computer-related course I've taken is MIDI Sequencing classes for my music major.
I'm so glad I'm finished with my Keyboarding classes They were really good for improving my sight-reading and technique, but I'm not going to miss them at all. I was already pretty damn good when I entered the course, anyways.
I love my new MIDI piano

I'm probably gonna wank off just as much when I have classes.
I have class Mon & Wed, and then only ONE class on Friday.

I took summer classes this year, so I'd prefer if they could postpone the fall semester for another month, kthx. I also failed my first class of my college career. Fuck school.

I don't smoke. The problem is that they cram 3 months worth of chemistry into one month and I thought I could actually learn it that way. I actually thought I did alright, but apparently my instructor disagreed. The Chem department sucks, anyway, and this is something agreed upon by the vast number of bright students who fail Chem as well as the Bio department who regularly see some of their best students forced to take summer classes to catch up. I've asked three different Bio professors what their opinions are on the Chem department; all three told me it sucks.

I can understand this actually, the difference is I've had bad professors. I study my ass of for a polysci test and practically memorize what the teacher says we need to know, then that bitch gives our tests back and everyone has somewhere around a 60%, no curb. I thought maybe I was retarded or something then I looked up her ratings. I still passed somehow.

I signed up for History of Religions thinking it would be interesting. My teacher is a fucking minister. Oh well, it will be an easy way to increase my GPA. Luckily my gf is in the class too. She's interested in learning the stuff so I can cheat off her if I don't find the material study able. Yeah she's a Christianfag.

Are you saying you're dating a dude who identifies as female? Because I always thought the girl in the relationship would be you.
I graduated college already, most likely because I'm better than the rest of you. Especially Rezendes.

How many of you also have classes like mine where you just sick in the back with your laptop the whole time? I'm doing that in my Econ class right now because all the homework is online, and so is the textbook... so I don't have too much motivation to pay attention.
I'm also a Music major, and this is supposed to be a freshman Econ class... so I'm not missing much by not paying any attention. I pretty much sit and wait for him to say when the next test is, how to use the website, etc...
I'd actually drop dead in this class without the internet.

I have classes like that, but I never study, well very rarely. So I actually absorb whatever they say in these things.
college bores me to death. I just don't fit into this pisshole, can't even get a shitty job or nothing

college classes are so boring. Most of them anyway. Every now and then you can have a cool one. I couldn't bring myself to go to class though. I'm glad I dropped out anyway. Worked out for the better.

I was suppose to transfer to a Uni next semester after taking 2 more classes that I dropped last semester but, due to budget cuts, one of classes (which as 5 different times) are completely full so I get to enjoy another semster!!
I'd drop school in a second if I got into a posistion that allowed me to support myself by just making music.

You can, but the way you do that pretty much deadens your soul to music, since you're forced to become a hack at the thing you love. But if you're willing to do all sorts of different work you can probably do that today. I have a friend who does it. Though he's also in Krallice, but that's not what makes him money.
The rest of you seem to be doing University wrong. You're paying for it, no? Make it the experience you want. It doesn't have to be just a four year wait for an expensive piece of paper.

Well I meant your course load, but fair enough. Though if it hadn't been for alcohol I'd probably have snapped during college. Or snapped worse, in any case.
My point was mostly that college courses don't have to be boring, people just tend to structure their experience in such a way that they end up primarily with boring classes. Ultimately, though, if you can't find anything that interests you at school, you're either at the wrong one or shouldn't be in school at all. I feel like a lot of people forget that the college years are still a part of your life, not something separate from it. The fact that you're often still treated as a 'child,' or at least not as an 'adult,' until graduation doesn't help with that.

hmm well I honestly tried to make it what I wanted, before college I was a really social happy drunk person and now its the complete opposite, despite any of my efforts. The classes don't bother me too much, yeah they are bullshit but in the end I will always pass them.

Yup, that's how I feel. You were taking standard music courses before, right? Musicianship and Harmony?
Right now I'm in an Audio Recording class. Boring, yet loaded with information. However, I still just fade in and out of paying attention, and don't take any notes. Just took a test and got an 80%, so whatever.
I'm using college as:
a) A place to meet people involved in the music industry/business/career
b) A place to learn more about what I want to do
c) A limbo for running around and trying to get involved in music outside of school.
I'm pretty much set on music.

Amen to that. It still amazes me how quite a few of my class mates still can come off with comments like "all this math stuff is so boring" and actually mean it. To me it's bordering on incomprehensible how people can enter an education in engineering and persevere despite not liking math. Like trying to be a carpenter, with the handles of all the tools wrapped in barbed wire.

I've done it, too, and I definitely picked it up through both the internet and reading British books.
I sometimes spell add a "u" (i.e. "colour") or an "a" (i.e. "haemorrhage"), but I don't ever reverse the "e" and "r", ala "centre" or "metre". That's weak sauce and everyone knows it.

Just cant cut it huh? It's boring sometime, then other you'll end up with the cool professors who still smoke dope and what not and make a class interesting.

I'm sure it feels like your being fed watered down ass sweat as well, to use the word in its literal sense.
I've never felt more disgusting than after a few floor level concerts I've attended. Excluding when Paddy shits on my chest.

Very true. It's kinda surreal that now when I go out to shows with people I used to geek out about metal with in college, they're accompanied by people like Colin Marston (and it takes me a moment to realize that's who 'Colin' is). It's also just strange when somebody whose bands you've known and listened to for years in the context of just your friend's band all of a sudden is in one of the top tier bands in the genre. They're just mixing their new album as well (might have just finished, actually), so be prepared.
I can understand the appeal of speaking like the British, since in pop culture at least they're more aware of words than the American equivalents, but you're still an unimaginative douche with your language if you just copy somebody else's syntax and incorporate words in a non-organic way. And there's nothing less organic than somebody like Requiem saying 'bloody.'

Nope. I graduated from a CC before transferring to UMass and it was damn good. Not as complete as UMass, but teachers that sure as hell fostered a learning environment. If it weren't for the classes I took at BCC, I wouldn't be minoring in SOC/ANTH right now.

this whole place feels watered down. I thought maybe we would do hands on shit instead of writing papers that waste time. I want to get my degree, but all this bad shit (academically) keeps happening to me here so I'm getting really tempted to just leave.

I wouldn't have thought Colin Marston would have enough time to go to gigs given the number of bands he's in!

To be fair it was one of Lev's (the drummer's) other bands' gigs, not just some random band. But still, it was one of those 'and here's my friend Colin' moments, where only the next day is it explained to you that that's Colin Marston and he could melt your face off with his playing if he so chose, but as it turns out he'd rather sit quietly off in a corner and drink very slowly.
A CC shouldn't be a watered down curriculum, but rather less of a complete curriculum than a four year university. If you're getting the fake shit it's the quality of the CC, not the fact that it's a CC. The same thing happens at 'proper' universities as well.
On the other hand, Chris is retarded and you shouldn't believe anything he says. He's a liar as well.

She wasn't. She told me last weekend, which we spent at a Bed and Breakfast in Vermont. We had a lovely time, though I have to say I was vaguely put off by the fact that she kept insisting on calling me 'Chris,' and more than vaguely put off by the fact that she kept insisting I call her 'Chris.'

How many people here go to/have gone to class drunk/high? What are your reasons, and what do you use?
I don't really ever go to class fucked up. However, my check list includes weed, alcohol, uppers, and opiates. I used them as a mean to cure my boredom in class, except for uppers which were usually just to help me pay attention AND keep my entertained.

There was one time during my third year of university when a friend and I were partaking in alcohol on a Monday night. It was only supposed to be a leisurely affair but needless to say we ended up getting hammered. Anyway, by the end of the night we got a little peckish and decided to frequent a take-away pizza place, in which my friend decided to have a fit requiring an ambulance and subsequent hospital attention.
I couldn't just abandon the guy for the inane reason of university the next morning, so I stayed with him until he had the necessary tests and was given the all-clear. The all-clear came at approximately 9:30 am, 30 minutes before a lecture in Relativity was due to start, and so without any sleep or food and still feeling as drunk as a skunk, I trundled round to the Physics department, red-eyed and bedraggled.
Three things strike me as instances of good fortune in this story, if you exclude my friend not dying an untimely death:
1) The Physics department is no more than a 5-10 minute walk from the Royal Liverpool University hospital;
2) It was, if you excuse the pun, relatively early in the semester, meaning that we hadn't encountered anything as devlish as tensor calculus, which would have probably finished me off; and
3) My next lecture was not until 3pm, so I could scurry home to snatch whatever sleep I could. I made the lecture on time too, natch

Last thursday a new friend of mine (I am now 6 weeks on my new school) and I were drinking vodka on the boys toilet...Why we did it I can`t really say. Suddenly he pulled this bottle of really cheap vodka out of his bag and said "Want some?". So yeah we emptied the bottle and ende up having a bad headache during school. I`ll never drink cheap vodka anymore in school

yea, alcohol usually starts off as a good idea during school... and then leaves you totally confused and quite disinterested.

I remember when I caught a high school teacher of mine with vodka in a 64oz soda cup from a mini-mart. I tasted it and i said "whoa, you know this is mine now, right?" and he knew there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it haha. So I proceeded slammed it down during class and was pretty well fucked up for the 2nd half of the day.

I've attended a few classes on opiates a number of times normally to cure terrible boredom. These were the classes with the sad/annoying teacher that would mark students down points for not showing up to the classes concerning the most uninteresting or not very challenging courses that really don't require my weekly attendance. I usually end up nodding off, especially if they dim the lights for a projector presentation.
I went to school once drunk and it was a terrible experience. The last thing I want to due when drunk is sit still and be quite for 50 minutes. UUgghh.

During one lecture course, on a friend's birthday, I brought a bottle of whisky and she and I drank it while sitting in the very front of the room. We polished it off during the course of the lecture (the professor wanted a bit after it was over) and then we both had terrible nights, because we'd gotten drunk at 3 in the afternoon. There were no further repercussions, because I am awesome. Or because I'm friends with the professor (and also awesome).
The best part was people making veiled references to 'people drinking out of brown paper bags' like it might affect us in some way. I argued with them just to be a dick. It was almost like a real-life metaltabs.

On friday I`m gonna take a few cans of beer with me to school. But not that much that I get drunk, just so much I get a nice chilled effect

I had a movie-appreciation class in college once, and It was in a real big lecture hall type of room, and the kids in the row behind me actually brought a full-sized cooler full of beer to the class one day. I respect them.

That's pretty awesome haha. I should have done that for the economics class I'm in right now, because I have my computer with me and I can fuck around the whole time. I also sit in a spot where the teacher cannot see me AT ALL.

I dropped my first class. Right now I'm finishing up my 3rd semester, so I guess that isn't too bad. Luckily I realized computer science isn't right for me early in my academic career.
Now it's time to give business and accounting a try! I love ripping people off.

Isn't this something like the third time Reqtum's changed his major completely? That's, um, not promising.
Though I guess, considering who this is, I shouldn't be surprised.

So I'm going to ITT Technical Institute now, pursuing an Associate's degree in Computer & Electronic Engineering Technology, or CEET.

I've never taken a class before that made me want to cause so much harm to myself and others. I can honestly say that if CHM151 could manifest itself into a person, I would castrate, rape, and murder it and it would still be ahead of me as far as the grief it's inflicted. God damn it.
I just finished up my ENL326 (AfroAmerican Lit) finals, those are always fun. I just have Cell Biology finals on Monday and I can finally put this nightmare of a semester behind me.

Most people will tell you not to go to ITT Tech. Just look online for the horror stories. Although I have heard of people going there for two years and come out making $20+ an hour doing an ass simple job.

That's why I wanna go! The guy there (scary soundin' guy with a mobster-sounding name and an Italian-gangster-ish accent... ah maybe it was New York/New Jersey, they both sound 'bent' to me, like a guitar, but one is bent up the other is bent down, way i think of it... anyways, should i be worried about this guy?
he showed me some statistics (I think the year was a year or two ago, but i dunnoooo i forgot right now!!1) and the statistics showed that on average, graduates with an Associates Degree from ITT Technical Institution have a lower percentage of unemployment, and bachelor's degree an even lower %. He told me off-hand that the 5% or 6 or w/e it was were mainly people that didn't keep up with their career-counselors (because the school credits itself for having a reputation of literally hooking their graduates up with jobs, supposedly. So people that don't do their homework, miss appointments and interviews, don't turn paperwork in, generally make up the rejects.
But I already went 2 weeks (I have 3 classes a week right now,
1) "Problem Solving" with Old lady teacher. Really, really simplified class and we are literally going through "Now Integers, that means it can be 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5! Try counting all the way to 5! 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Those are all positive integers. Now, if you take 1, and minus 2, you get negative 1. If you take 2, and minus 4, you get negative 2, now if you take 3, and minus 6, you get negative 3, now if you take 4, and minus 8, you get negative 4, and now if you take 4, and minus 9, believe it or not, you get negative 5! Those are all negative integers."
That was until our first break, when we came back most of the remaining chunk of our time was breaking in that -5 and +5 are both absolute values of 5, meaning that they are 5 "steps," if you will, from zero. Notice the unnecessary gestures such as the quotes around 'steps,' and the following: If you will? That's one reason why I hate this teacher.
2) "Introduction to Personal Computers for the Technical Professional," probably the hardest class I have, although I have a pestering confidence that I could look the shit up on google. Right now I need to read a shitton from this fuckin' book for that class that I am late for, plus another one, i gotta piss right now and sleep and dothat shit but first type the rest of this post.
3) "Strategies for Success, or something" Teacher has jet black mustache and goatee, the class is fun. 'Nuff said.

Took physics in high school, it was easy. Now I'm doing the exact same shit two years later, and they manage to fuck it up so bad that it seems complicated.

I'm already dreading my Chicano Studies class... FUCK GE classes!
My line up (for music) is:
Musicianship/Ear Training VI
Music ANALysis (basically Harmony III)
Audio Recording B (part II)
Global Music History (one of those appreciation classes, pretty cool)
Orchestration
only taking 14 units this semester, lowest I've ever done. And I just finished analyzing some Brahms shit. Now on to some other old dude composers to decipher...

That's because the physics they spoonfeed you in school isn't complicated! All the interesting stuff is quite hard to convey, from both the conceptual and mathematical view point, without it becoming complicated.

Never take Chicano studies. This is ridiculous. I have no interest in this. I sit here in absolute awe at how little this pertains to anything I will have to know, ever.

sounds like shit. did you have to take that because your school requires arts/humanities credits or some bullshit like that? I still have to do those, I hate taking classes irrelevant to my major.
my schedule for fall is gonna be evil:
accounting 205
professional/technical communication
construction estimating 2
construction electrical systems
construction field management
have to leave room for military science too

That sounds like an intense line up. General Education classes suck. After Chicano Studies I'll be done with all that "Basic Skills" bullshit that I've been putting off because I hate writing TEN PAGE RESEARCH PAPERS. I just don't like it. At all. It isn't fun and I just end up bullshitting everything and getting a mediocre passing grade.
