haha pretty much. Except not at all.
I'm almost on page 8 of that paper (with size 13 font lol). I've been balancing out a student film with a cancelled and rescheduled seminar in L.A and then all the actual stuff pertaining to school.
This paper really sucks though. I don't enjoy writing about topics that SUCK ASS.

This fall will be my first semester of solely online courses. Should be an easy 4.0 GPA according to my previous results with online classes.

Yes but art school is not like how you probably think it is, not to mention I don't study a traditional art, I do computer animation. Even if I was the art school slacker you might imagine, it's still not comparable to online college courses.

What's your perspective on online courses? They give students freedom and also make it easier for students who have a hard time taking notes. Plus every test is open book!

No, its for people who can't fit the class into their schedule because of work or something and not for retards that can't copy what a teacher writes on a board. And from my experience, they always make you take the mid-terms/finals on campus.

The online course thing is just like any other learning medium, it is what you make of it. I've taken quite a few, as a complement to my program, and the exams on those have been partly a few open book tests, but mainly hand ins, essays and oral presentations. The demands are high and they generally require a lot of work, but they've always been rewarding.
Browsing this thread I can't help but to feel a little lucky. I actually like all of my course program.

My neighbor's working on his bachelors in engineering and some of his courses are all online. Others he goes to the regional campus for. The one I know for sure that's all online is in remedial music. Nothing to do with his career, but he had to have another elective.

I haven't taken an online course, but I definitely would. The only thing about them is a personal preference of your learning environment and your trust in willpower. If you take them online while you are high, drunk, laying on your comfy bed, and watching porn then you might want to go to a regular class where you probably won't have that freedom. Also, not having a teacher in person might just make you feel scared, kinda like the first time you get raped.

Yea, it's a personal preference thing. For my own part I just love the type of education when they basically say:
This is the goal you need to reach.
Here's some material to get you started.
Go.
We have a network of universities here who're running a sort of collective on-line university. So formally you get enrolled at one of them but for all practical purposes your campus is the net, as well as the physical campuses where there happens to be professors and students teaching/taking the same course as you. Great stuff. Just wished they had more high-level courses.

I once took an Open University course which was conducted entirely online, and I bailed after the first assignment. I don't think you can get much more pathetic than that. By comparison Req is some sort of sage, and I salute him and the marriage between his anus and his computer chair.

The robotics class looks like it would be great. How many classes are there that Legos are involved.

Y'know, my father actually has this little gimmick when he's lecturing in economics at uni using lego. Funny thing is, it's pretty damn informative and pedagogically effective. Don't underestimate the lego.

Never! I think they're right up there with flush toilets as a great invention. I have a Lego castle my kids built in my bedroom still and there's an unmechanical robot on my china hutch.

Just started school today! David Newman internship didn't fit his schedule so I got another awesome guy. It's kinda a blessing in disguise, because now I'm gonna get paid and do WAY more than with Newman.
I'm taking:
Jazz Arr.
Beg. Comp.
Mus Industries Foundations.
Advanced Media Comp (20 Minute Film score)
Geology... lol.
and maybe Philosophy of Science, but that would bring me to 18 units, so I'd have to fill out a special form and also I'd be taking 18 units yea lol rofl jk wtf.

I thought about that before. Do they generally take bachelor degrees? Is it a contract like the military? It looks sort of fun from my perspective, getting to pull people over and bust up parties and shit like a huge douchebag...it would be just like super troopers! but I doubt that

It would be nothing like Super Troopers. It's really a profession you shouldn't go into unless you have a passion for it, much more so than the military.
Because, ultimately, if you're having fun doing the job you're almost certainly doing it wrong, which is a pretty massive deal for all the citizens that are subjected to your command.

Biology's easy! All you really need to learn is where all of the holes and lumpy bits are located. Just memorise this chart and you'll do fine:

If you ever run into Gregory House tell him he's a cunt. And that I want to feel him in me.

This is very much true. I was very close to applying with the police force. Volunteering with them, attending a summer internship program with them, gaining several connections.. Then I eventually realized I'm too much of a badass negro for the police.

You do understand that 'philosophy of science' classes are fake science classes directed at limp-wristed liberal arts majors, yes? Switching to that from Geology is essentially switching to banging girls from, um, your hand?

I don't understand, actually. I like Philosophy and I hate memorizing facts, so adding "Philosophy" to the beginning of "Science" translates (in my eyes) to "Science That Is Less Boring And Makes You Think - 330."

I´m soooo bored about the religion class I took. Basically it`s just about the bible and if Jesus really existed or not.
Normally religion is a neutral class but not when your teacher is a die-hard christian.
Also French is really getting on my nerves. 6 fucking years now and I`m still not over the beginner level. I think it`s just because I think it`s the gayest language ever. Or I`m just used to hard sounding languages like finnish, german or russian

Nice little semester sailing up - micro computer technology, general chemistry, industrial economics and quantum physics. So of course, the essential question now is - when the fuck do we get to start making huge fire works out of tax payer's money?

taking a whole bunch of construction classes again next semester, including one on plumbing systems so I can know when dirty plumbing subcontractors like BassBehemoth are trying to pull some gypsie shit

Has anyone here taken a break in their later years of college and returned later to finish it?
I ask this because I am on my last 2 semesters, but I need a 6 month internship before I can take my last semester of classes. The problem being the construction industry hasn't been great and getting an internship is somewhat difficult.

All together i've taken about a year and a half off a school to travel and focus on music. I don't regret it, although I'm not in any kind of industry so I wasn't really behind when I came back.

I took a semester off of school after earning my Associates degree to just relax and work basically. I started back the semester after just part time taking 2 classes, and i've been a full time student this semester.
Don't worry about having to take a semester off to do your internship. Once you land your internship i'm sure you will basically feel like you're in school still anyways, generally speaking.
If getting that internship is difficult, get into your advisors office and make them assist you in finding your temporary job. If your school doesn't have much to offer when it comes to internship assistance then put your advisor on the spot and ask, "how am I supposed to finish out my degree since I can't even land an internship?" That's what I would do anyways. You're paying them the big bucks, make them do something more than just sit in their chairs and talk to you.

The watermelon smoothies are delicious. The fried chicken ones take some getting used to, but you can't argue with tradition. I find them easier to ingest if you wash it down with some grape soda a loose Newport (or Kool, if you're more than half black).

Yea, I got an appointment this Wednesday. Gonna see what I can do to finish up since I don't think I want to work in the construction industry anyway. I didn't really grow up with it like all the other students in the program did, but oh well, it's a degree.

Estimating is actually what I wanted to get into, I really liked the courses I took on it. I should be able to finish my degree though, my advisor said students have been able to present their cases in the past and graduate.
I'm actually in the process of enlisting right now, I guess I didn't learn my lesson about the military the first time around

I just finished off two years of Plumbing/Pipefitting apprenticeship course(got 2000 hours in both trades) and I'm starting a 5-week work term at a mid-sized commercial plumbing company.
Anyone considering university, but aren't 100 percent on it..consider a TRADE! Jobs after university are not as abundant as they once were..

Depends, though. Step out on an empty field and whisper "I've got an engineering degree" around here and you'll need a snorkel to survive the crowd.

Strange, last time I checked it wasn't really the case around here, with all the damn Indians producing engineers and such.

Yea, but we've had a combination of declining birth rates and a lot of drop-outs from the engineering programs. In my particular field, the average rate of graduates is four per year and we tend do disperse over a large part of the world.

Therefore, according to maths and science and such, engineers get more poontang. That explains why my degree in media studies has been so ineffectual in securing sexual congress within the fanjinas of girlfolk.

In your particular field you plant turnips, then when they mature to full size you paint a face on them and call them Wilson and hold mock political elections and debates with them which you only win about 60% of the time because you're Swedish.
Any electricians here? For some reason I always had a weird nagging in the back of my mind to get into it, but I know it'd simply lead to my fatal electrocution because of my tendency to lick things which are new to me.

I had a class on it before, supposedly to be an electrician's apprentice you need to have an IQ of about 60. I couldn't get my shit straight in the lab for that class. We had to make a double switch circuit for a light bulb, I fucked it up so bad my light exploded.

hahaha That's hilarious, d'q'. My husband was in electric classes at vo-ed and they used to wire metal toolboxes to circuit boards and shock each other. One of his best friends there became a nuke. Lots of years later when hubby was teaching at a Navy reserve center he worked with an electrician for some side cash since he was fluent in ac&r work. My grandpa worked for the local power company, too. He went to Case Western Reserve for his schooling, and after he retired he did ac&r work, too.
Me? I rewired a lamp and used the wrong cycle system or something like that and when I plugged it in I blew out the power in half the house and it would only work half power in other parts. It took my husband hours to trace it because the fuse that blew was close to the floor joists in the basement and it was too dark to see it was bad. lol I've only wired about half a dozen lamps, but I got the wrong type this one time. I won't do that again!

Anyone who wishes to know at what angle the sun's beam radiation hits a particular surface inclined at a particular angle, at a particular time, at a particular place and then do the integral calculations necessary to use this information along with other factors in order to calculate the total amount of solar energy that can be expected from a particular sort of solar cell.
This I can do and can therefore do not understand why you do not worship me like the shamans and wisemen of old.

From my particular field we throw the largest phallic symbols any culture has even conceived of at the sky, which equals automatic win regardless of how many elections we win.
Sort of halfway to electrician status, at the moment. It's fun to watch the sparks fly.

On a more serious note, I know a few engineers that cannot find jobs in their field.
