Cube 60

Hi,

I was at the shop and was looking for a good sounding, not expensive, not too much power. I want to use it for recording purposes using an instrument mic at the speaker. From experience I realized you don't need much power and volume to record a guitar. So I was thinking on settling to get Cube 60. The people in the shop for some odd reason do not let customers try their products before buying! By any chance does anyone own it or used it to see how it sounds?

yea next time put it in the gear forum

but yes i agree, i have a microcube which is THE best practice amp

-small
-runs on batteries(lasts a long time)
-has many many effects and amp models
-doesnt sound to shabby for such a small inexpensive amp

I do recomend the amp, and what kind of terrible store doesnt let yout ry the product before you buy it.... its a fucking amp, theres not many ways to fuck an amp up by turning it on (at store curtious volume). I can understand a really nice guitar, but still, its a terrible sales approach/rule for that store.

Agreed, buy one off the net out of principle, or at least another shop. Probably cheaper on the net anyway.

The Cube series is excellent, I was going to buy one as my first amp but I decided to take a risk and go with Tech 21 Trademark 30. For a little bit more than a Cube 30, I got a hell-of-a-lot more customizable amp with lots of balls, and some really sweet sound quality. There's also a Trademark 60. Maybe you should check out Tech 21 if you have a little more extra cash to spend. It's perfect for recording, although I have not used it to record myself yet. Extremely good sound quality, perfect for your recording needs.

I would boycot a shop that doesn't let me try stuff out. Who wants to gamble hundreds of $$$ just hoping it is what you want?

thats the whole point of going to a store though, is to try before you buy, get it off the net if you have confidence and you want it cheap.

The only problem with buying on the net is paying for shipping and even more shipping if it's not what you want. But if you buy at a store you can always walk in and ask to return it. I say: If you can find it in a nearby store then cool, just make sure it's not ridiculously overpriced.

but if you buy off musicians friend (i hate them and love them at the same time) you can get free shipping if it is over 200

Sorry my mistake for posting this in the guitar forum.

From their stupid rules I bought a lot of gear that I regretted because they wouldn't let me try them out! Their stupid country policy.

I always wanted to buy of the net but I couldn't find any sites that had dealers in Saudi Arabia or Bahrain or adjacent countries (except for Ibanez guitars; United Emirates). If anyone knows a site with dealers with dealers in proximity with Bahrain please tell me.

I thought the Cube 60 is more expensive than the Tech 21 Trademark 30. It is $345.

I just bought it and I tried it for the very first time. Sounded better than I expected it to sound. It has 9 different amp models which all sound really good and six different effects to tailor every amp model you select. They even have an amp model called metal and it sounds pretty heavy especially if you increase gain and adjust the equalizers. Oh yea it even has an equalizer section with mids treble and tremolo. It also has a clean section with level and brightness (you can also use the 6 effects on it). This amp has so much better tone and distortion than my other 100 watt amp and it is perfect for recording purposes with a SM57 mic. I'm glad I didn't buy it and regretted like so many other gears I bought.

The Cube 60 is more expensive than the Trademark 30. The trademark 60 is about the same price as the Cube 60, might be $20 or $30 more or something. Tech 21 didn't put any FX in the amp(like phaser, tremolo, chorus, etc.), but if you're like me you'll find that useless. Besides you can probably get better quality effects with a pedal... The amp models that the Tech 21 has are soooooo customizable. You choose one of 3 amp models: UK(Marshall model), Calif(Mesa/Boogie Rectifier), and Tweed(Fender model, excellent cleans). Then you choose the channel: High Gain, Hot, or Clean, and a speaker model: UK(clear and loud), US(more bassy and muffled), plain(pretty plain, UK is better). You have the 3 eq knobs, reverb, and a gain knob that will give you more than enough grind.

The Cube 60 is great, but your limited to 9 sounds. You can fiddle around with the settings on a Tech 21 so much that you'll always come up with something different.
